Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

I don't need a pay bump to leave

A friend asked me recently how much of a pay bump I'd need to consider leaving Dell for another company. He was quite shocked when I told him I'd happily take a pay cut to get out of here. I wasn't joking. The only things I'd need are proof of good company culture and a friendly work environment.

If I got a package from DELL I would probably take a less demanding job too. I doesn't meant its better. I would walk away with my shares and a massive payout. I could pay off my mortgage and take a year off.

It would take alot to make me start again from the bottom and care as much and work as hard as I do here. Maybe next go around when it comes for another company i would just be a box ticker and do the minimum without a care in the world.

20 years and all I know is work eating up my whole life. I love it and I hate it sometimes too.

Left Dell a year and half ago, just before the laid started. Had enough stumbled across a great job that paid a lot less then I was making at Dell. Best decision. No one looking over my shoulder, no KPI, no justifying my existence with meaningless metrics. Missed out on 8 months severance, but enjoying going to work each day, so worth it

You probably want to Hang in there for the severance . Dell revenue numbers continue to fall by double digits and they can only cover the losses for so long with layoffs and fake hype. More layoffs are coming. Jump at severance ASA once offered. don't let a but kissing fan boy or no-skill manager push you to quit. Stick around. Make them offer you severance.

Then go. No one is going to clap when you leave. I am all good with the rumors around layoffs. That is the point of the site. These types of posts are just grandstanding.

From reading posts here a while......

  1. Dell pay rate is cr-p
  2. Dell corporate culture is double cr-p
  3. Posters are all super smart and super duper good at their job

So despite your willingness to take a cut and any company having a better culture than Dell you're somehow still at Dell?
