Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Marketing Reorg?

The announced marketing changes will take place this month. Does anyone have additional information? When is it happening? Any particular groups impacted? Will it address the rumors that BB wants to be more like RPS?

Most likely news will be shared starting on 3/20 and 3/21. Reorg is happening. There will be layoffs but no idea who will be impacted in marketing but it is coming.

We do need more doers. 100%. But I agree with the other poster that some of the long tenured management is ineffective as they have adjusted to the culture to survive, and there are negative impacts to their employees because of this. I believe a big issue here is they have too many of thinkers and doers separated out. So many silos. There are quite a few managerial bureaucrats in the marketing organization (and beyond) who have just accepted the cultural dysfunction, and make it make hard for their employees to think or get anything done. I realize the issues start above many of the long tenured managers, but your employees are looking to YOU. As a manager if you are not part of the solution here you are part of the problem here.

To the person saying to look at the people that have been here long time. With tenure comes deep knowledge, dues paid and dedication. If we left we’d be new somewhere else and then what, we should take the job of the people there just because we’re new? Ideas don’t exclusively come from new employees because those of us that have been here a minute have all the tribal knowledge and cross functional relationships, which we all know is what keeps this place alive. Honestly what we really need is less ideas people and more doers. I can name many people that won Legends this year with a long tenure that were awarded that honor by all the new leadership. I’ve been here over 10 years and was given an exceptional performance rating this year from a leader that is relatively new. Absolute ignorant thing to say, but assuming it’s coming from a place of fear.

What do these “wrong people” have in common so I don’t get laid off myself?

It has begun! Safe to say that the wrong people (in terms of talent) are being impacted from what I know so far.
Most will be informed Monday and Tuesday.

“Data Science and EAA is going to be impacted heavily next week. Majority of the jobs are going to be outsourced.”

This makes zero sense. Data is critical to growing a business and where more investment should be spent.

Morale on my marketing team is very poor right now. Very, very poor. Incompetent managers. They should be hacking the people who have been here way too long and not the ones bringing new, modern ideas and skills. Let’s see how this goes.
