Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

March 20th. Could Hans be gone???

Looks like a special UTS with Mr 5g and the board. He stepping down??? Or is he flying back to Sweden to face the music for his shady dealing when he was with Ericson?? Time will tell.

it is a simple meet the board meeting. Hans LOVES trolling you all almost as much as he loves withholding shareholder value

Saw today we could all log a volunteer hour for turning our light off at 8:30 PM! How many of our volunteer hours are like that and should they even count?

Is it too late to record a ton of volunteer hours so I get picked? I think I have half an hour ever recorded against VZ because it is none of their business what I volunteer for and they don’t deserve credit for what I do outside of work.

The 20th UTS will be to announce that Verizon has hit their 2.5 million hours of volunteer time early. Anyone with crazy amounts of volunteer hours during work time will need to be let go. This will all be done in front of a banner that reads Mission Accomplished. 2nd announcement is that Cutting our Way To More Profitability becomes the new Verizon slogan.

Saw this the other day... Does this effect pensions in a way that makes it easier to sell off whatever part of the company they apply to? Likely wire-line union pensions, since not many others still have one.

Prudential Financial, Reinsurance Group of America Enter $5.9 Billion Verizon Communications Pension Risk Transfer Deal

  • -- Prudential Financial (PRU.NaE) and Reinsurance Group of America (RGA.NaE) said late Wednesday they have entered a pension risk transfer deal that will settle about $5.9 billion of Verizon Communications (VZ.NaE) pension liabilities.

The deal will provide retirement benefits to a group of people including 56,000 Verizon retirees and their beneficiaries who began receiving their benefits before Jan. 1, 2023.

Prudential and Reinsurance Group will each guarantee and assume 50% of the obligation to the retirees, except in specific jurisdictions where Prudential will guarantee and assume 100% of obligations, the companies said.

Read the CONTRACT union person. If the company needs us back they can call us back at anytime. The needs of the business. Why haven’t they came across and said we are permanent WFH.

Hopes are up for a new CEO, they’ll go right back down when it’s Sampath though. Get ready for single ply TP in the office when you get RTO’d if he doesn’t sell your job to India first

Didn’t we spin off Frontier? We changed our minds? Sammy being CEO wouldn’t surprise me. Indian take over of another US company.

Annnnd, back to reality. This has nothing to do with RTO, why would the board need to be part of that? And with Vz closing cafeterias in two of the "hub" sites, RTO is a dead topic.

So, what happens on the 20th? Here are my guesses:

  1. Hans is gone at the end of the year.
  2. Sampath will be CEO.
  3. Might be splitting off VzB from the rest of the org. Before it is gone altogether.
  4. NOT selling...this HCL deal is a 6 year Verizon plan to exit managed services. HCL is essentially going to have all the customers in all of their systems at the end of 6 years.
  5. VSP? That would be nice. Naaa, what am I thinking....

I thought most of the company was already RTO to some degree, 2-3 days a week. You think 5 days will now be required?

@2tic- Wfh was not a party for some teams in midwest Network. When you have paranoid micro managers they need to have meetings daily and and on top of that every couple hours send a meeting maker.
Plus, had a guy from recent college graduate NLDP program was made manager (not sure whose nephew he is) doesn't know basics how analyze stats wanting presentation in Google slide on totally unnecessary things would say d*mb things since you guys are not commuting we can have meetings.
And to top things of during a manager transition, Managament favorite a nontechnical guy they promoted to Principal few years ago was made acting manager and this wanted daily meetings so he could know what to do, was lost how to do his job. The mo--n had no clue what to do, what his job responsibilties are. Everyone has their areas of responsibilities and daily reports being generated and we work off that. This guy just loves to chat and had entire team join those daily calls for 2 plus hours and then we could start doing ourjob.
With micromanagers wanting meetings on the fly and this id--t for Principal who needed other Engineer hold his hand ended working longer hours. Wouldn't necessary call it a Party.

What office are they going to send people to?!? They closed most of them! Or they ones that remain don't even have the space for everyone. Rto don't make any sense. Especially for saving costs.

Probably will be nothing special about it at all, but we can hope.

My top guesses

  1. Hans leaving
  2. Sale of part of the business or an acquisition
  3. Reorganisation
  4. RTO
  5. Rebrand Vz 2.24
  6. some other BS waste of time/money announcement

How did he get the job in the first place? He was fired as CEO of Ericsson. Were there no better candidates for VZ CEO? Maybe this was the plan all along. Destroy America. Foreign takeover of a major US infrastructure company and tank them.
