Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Fully Remote

Has anyone heard what will happen to those fully remote employees not close to a HUB location or any other US Bank office location? I know nothing official has been decided yet, but wondering if anyone in HR or management has heard anything.

I live 10 mins from one of the downtown HUBs and haven’t stepped a foot in there yet. This is going to fade away.

I am fully remote and 20 miles from hub, but have not been told to go back or where to go back to by my manager. Anyone in similar situation? My goal does require me to be in 3 days a week, but I have no space

Hey UN Agenda ! 6kxw+1rrcZEIU

Imagine all you want about all the reasons why you are complaining about RTO. But now imagine this…. You are let go. So now you don’t have to worry about gas, commuting, daycare, clothes, etc. Your wife can go full time in her job and you can take care of the home and kids. Imagine.

@6nwl+1rrcZEIU Well, the 30% have compassion for the 70%. Everyone will likely be affected here, whether you’re going into the office now or not.

Guarantee the 70% of USB workers who have to commute to work on a daily basis have zero sympathy for those whining about having to commute! “Three hours in a vehicle, poor me!” If you don’t like it get another job.

With skyrocketing inflation, a mortgage and kids, my wife felt the need to take a part time job. Now imagine that you are being forced back into the office and that as a result, that means your family is down to one job, you have to sit in traffic, spend more on gas, the list goes on. Now also imagine your a high performer who always excelled and you have been told your effectiveness will only increase due to a longer commute and less sleep.

I used to think, the younger generation silently quitting was because of no morals, but I admit when I am wrong! Morals is wanting to provide for your family and spend time with them.

I say that everyone economicly impacted by these draconian policies should just file a bankruptcy and make these financial institutions really hurt.

Around 30% of the company is remote and/or not near a hub.

What will happen? I will tell you what will happen. Their managers/ buddies will look after them and if you are not a buddy you will be saying bye bye . Those folks will get exceptions with some useless excuse .

Fairly easy to get around that since the law requires you to report layoffs taking place in 30 day periods. You stagger them across several months of just-under-the-radar numbers. It also applies when a company lays off people at a single site, but if you’re remote you fall outside of that, so they technically wouldn’t have to do any reporting on those at all.

Anyone know the percent of employees who are remote and not near a hub? Suggest brushing up on the WARN Act if you’re in this situation.

Seeing a few on here claiming remote are going to phased out, anyone have a timeline?

Arrangements for phasing them out from top to bottom are being made or have been made.

You’re not an upper level manager then, because there are fully remote, upper level managers on the list for layoffs as well because they aren’t near a hub and have most of their immediate reports working remote too. Look for those duties to globe slowly moved to others to apply pressure, and if they still won’t move, they go.

As an upper level manager I can imagine high-performing remote workers to remain valuable parts of our teams. It was that way before the pandemic too.

I dont think you’ll be required to go in but personally I would be nervous. I have no inside info but that’s just my feeling

Most likely you’ll be limited in promotions, raises, etc. to start with maybe more in the future. I came from another bank in Charlotte and that is what they and their peers did. Those places also used McKinsey’s layoff consultants to formulate those plans.

I'm in the same boat. I was told by my manager that I don't have to go in -- for now. I was hired as home-based and don't live near a hub. So, I'm like how could it change? I'm not commuting 6 hours to work or moving so .... I'm nervous.
