Annual hunger games and 1 year contracts

Well. How’s the annual vacuum pulling excercise going?

I recommend you all go buy the book "Jack Welch: the man who broke capitalism". How he used outsourcing & offshoring to reduce worker costs, mergers to hide flatlining growth, "vitality curves" / rank and yank to avoid paying out separation payments, maximum use of buy backs/dividends, as well as reducing worker benefits, to maximise short term profits (and executive pay). This ultimately broke GE as well as a host of other companies that recruited or emulated his "disciples", such as Boeing.

EM Execs expect to assemble a team of 10 persons to work seamlessly and cohesively while using forced ranking, required NSI % and transitioning work to BTC.

Those 10 team members know that they will be ranked from one to 10 every cycle, dropping 1 person to NSI and dropping 1 person to be replaced by BTC. Every action by each of those 10 persons is to ensure that they are part of the 8 survivors in year one then 6 survivors in year 2.

Cooperation and helping team members should not be an expectation of EM management without total revamp of forced ranking, disguised annual layoffs, and offshoring.

Hunger Games is currently an appropriate analogy.

It’s a great system, it works really well and will never go away. Also, several years ago we made significant changes to this flawless process.

Now where is my crack pipe?

At this point, Annandale is pretty much all late career folks (RE, NRE), managers, and technicians. People with marketable skills outside of XOM have already left.

Well, for those of us in Annandale it doesn't look good. We're totally f-kked. The bad news are just around the corner.
