Thread regarding L3Harris Technologies layoffs

The old L3

Frank Lanza is rolling around in his grave. What a shame what has happened to his company. He treated his employees with respect and made sure they were happy. That was of utmost importance. The people were incredible too, had the pleasure of working alongside them for over 20 years. big bonuses raises, summer Fridays, free lunch every day, best health insurance. so many employee perks. reduced to ashes once Harris came along and Kubasik sicko.

You all are delusional! Frank Lanza is not rolling around in his grave. His mindset from the beginning was to contract everything out! He was not one of us, he was one of them. He was better at his business game than Kubasik. And his way was smoother and slicker. I think Lanza cared and did not want a reputation so he smoothed out wrinkles with a better iron fist. Kubasik doesn’t even bother to plug the iron in, so all you get is fisted.

OmG.. you are so right.
I was laid off in 2021 after they got all they wanted.
I was offered retention bonus so I stayed until all was done.
All systems were moved to Melbourn.
They bought l3 for the name and products.
I hope SLC location survives.
I remember how they ki-led NY Headquarters. It was sad.
Kubasic..what a joke.
He wanted to gut old L3.
Ugly soul, ugly face and ugly person.

The layoffs and the site closures don't surprise me at all. Lanza led a company that made cool things and developed new technology. The money naturally followed. Lanza kept his worforce happy and his workforce continued to make cool things. Then leadership changed and the focus became shareholders. Things started to slowly deteriorate at L3. When Harris took over, it got exponentially worse fast. Harris management is horrible. It's no wonder the company is failing.

Whatever "empowered local leadership" was doing to "ordinary people" at that time, now the same is happening with "empowered local leadership". Nothing personal, just business. Plus changes in global economy.

Frank Lanza is indeed rolling around in his grave. Without motivated, dedicated and passionate staff, a company cannot succeed - this means we have to treat people properly recognizing they are human beings. Frank Lanza understood profoundly what makes ordinary people do extraordinary things and created an environment of empowered local leadership that delivered great results and thrilled customers.

This idea of a large monolithic enterprise that is embraced by L3Harris executives with simplistic thinking trying to implement a one size fits all approach for all products, all locations, and all staff runs counter to everything we know about how human beings function. These execs cannot handle complexity that is inherent in a diverse organization like L3Harris. Like Boeing, L3Harris will underperform - short term measures will goose the stock and line the pockets of the executives who will leave behind a mess and go on to destroy another enterprise ...

This started happening before the merger. It's all about the money and shareholders. And now with DEI the company went to sh-t ! After 40 years glad I'm gone.

I heard a story once about Lanza. Some rando piece of gear sold to some rando police department wasn't working right and they didn't feel they were getting proper support, so someone in the police department managed to get a hold of Lanza's number and called him.

Lanza took the info, called down to the head of the responsible division, and told them to fix the problem. Then he topped it off with "oh, and fire someone for this."

Once Lanza passed away and Strianese took over, we started to see the slow move toward corporate mediocrity, all in the name of money. Benefits were starting to erode and companies were being combined. But the companies still had autonomy and could make their own decisions about most things. Since the merger, the One Company mantra has resulted in complete loss of local decision making, loss of bonuses, loss of leadership, and frankly loss of talent. Solos have been erected as each function now reports to a corporate VP who doesn’t know the business, the products, or the customers and they all seem to be obsessed with hiring people from outside the company. And they’re still absolutely baffled why the employee engagement scores are so low. It’s sad.

L3 was already sinking when Harris took over, only kept the L3 because of name recognition! Merger sounded nice but it wasn't. Harris and any sensible person knew from the get-go they would consolidate just as they did when they took over Excelis. When someone goes to work for any corporation, they know or should know this going in. It's the downside, you should always prepare for this! The stock has been stagnant ever since the "merger" something had to be done. Quit saying that the company should care about the employees! That is a fantasy! They only owe you for the last two weeks you work there period. If you can't stomach corporate America, open a business yourself and care about the employees until you go out of business for doing so. I know I know the facts hurt your feelings! now pull up your pants and go grind and prepare!

Absolutely cruel to play like that with peoples lives. And when they feel down to think of all of us and what they did. It’s pure evil greed that was unnecessary. Worked for other companies before, never treated this way. Karma will kick in at some point to all of them. And I hope it will hit them harder, they need to experience on their own greedy skin what they did.

After the merger, they decided to shut down the old corporate HQ in NYC and relocate to Melbourne. They laid off all NY employees. People who had been with the company their whole careers. People that were told were the fabric of the company and what made it great. This company is ruthlessly greedy. Get out now before it happens to you. you don't matter to the company. Looking back I wish I hadn't spent all those years working for this company. Shame on you L3Harris. And for all those left in the trenches, please find yourself a better job elsewhere.
