Hertz should do more to respond to the recent negative publicity

Hertz Charging a Tesla Renter for Gas Was Not an Isolated Incident

Hertz could create an EV Customer Care team and issue a press release about it.

The press release could say that Hertz is continuing to sell off EVs from its fleet, but it is committed to customers having a good experience with EVs as long as Hertz is still renting them out and it acknowledges that there have been some billing errors related to EV recharging.

The EV Customer Care team could have the responsibility of making sure that EV customers are provided with appropriate charging adapters and are billed correctly. The EV Customer Care team could be folded into the regular Customer Care team if Hertz eventually eliminates EVs from its fleet completely.

The press release could also say that Hertz had hoped to contribute to meeting carbon dioxide emissions goals by adding EVs to it fleet, but it has encountered some unexpected difficulties in doing so and would welcome assistance from environmental groups, government agencies, charging infrastructure companies, auto repair companies, and auto manufacturers.

Car sales is pushing cars out as fast as they can with little to no inspections. We have sold regulars cars numerous time with no spare tire. We don't check.

Gil West did a great job with a statement he made in response to a Jalopnik article about the Teslas Hertz is selling:

“We seek to provide all our customers with an exceptional experience. If a customer has an issue or concern about any vehicle purchase, we work to make it right. In this case, as soon as the customer brought his concerns to us, we worked closely with him to deliver a Tesla that met his needs and preference.”

However, the headline of the article is "Hertz's Used Teslas Are Glitchy, Damaged Nightmares (Update)." Hertz needs to take control of the narrative and make some new headlines about how it is actively working on addressing the issues with its EV sales and rentals.
