3rd tour of duty at Dell, with 15 years of solid C-level connections. It looks like another round of layoffs is coming in August.
This is prob not news to most of you, but it sounds more than rumor as Memorial Day weekend approaches, and summer is about to be in full swing.
From what been hearing in the walls of multiple offices (OKC, RR, TN and Hopkingtons office), the layoffs are going to affect most major departments (Commercial, Enterprise, MB, SLED, and possibly SB. Most of FD should be ok).
Leadership in these areas is likely to take a big hit, while the company plans to add more lower paid sales reps. Highest paid AE’s and senior sales reps will likely be targeted.
Young College Grads are hungry, cheap, and good looking for the company. Dell has always leaned into this, especially in the past 2 years.
This move as you all know is a strategy shift toward automation and AI integration, as well as efforts to streamline operations and improve profitability.
Basically, cheaper labor more profit as we see evident in the stocks sky rocketing price, after the 13,000 layoffs over the past 12 months.
I know some of you might see this as nay-saying, and I don’t blame you. Rumors can be nasty, and I get how confusing it can be to hear conflicting information.
I will personally learn to lean into AI. As much as I don’t want the word to turn into Terminator, for now it’s where the markets are headed.
