Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Remember this when it comes to layoffs

RIFs are not for underperformers and people who need to be cut.

It is the failing of a company to it's people!

Always remember this if you find yourself being let go. Centene and others FAILED YOU.

Oh it's definitely not performance, but based on if you're part of the clique or not. I wasn't disliked, but I had an work issue with another manager at one point. And the word is definitely out!

I was in the October RIF as well, and I knew before my email came because my PL informed someone who was hired behind me that "I worked hard to save your position." I sent another co-worker to ask and she told her "You have nothing to worry about." Knowing this, I reached out to her and was informed "You will be updated in Thursday's town hall." Our director let it slip that they were informed 45 days prior, and I recall having my work redistributed to help other employees who didn't have much to do.

I whole heartedly agree! I was in the October RIF's and even though I was a hard worker with the KCA's to prove it, I wasn't in "the club" and winded up being the only person cut from the team. When the smoke cleared they kept me on until December to pick my brain because they were clueless about my work, while convincing me they had no hand in selecting me for the layoff. Fast forward and I had a former colleague look up my old leader and sure enough they posted my role with a new shiny title. Smh

I personally know someone that’s as cut back in October and swore management had nothing to do with it, and that it came from HR. Well imagine how they felt when six months later while still looking for work, they find an opening at centene for their old position. That’s when they realized they were not liked and that’s why they were cut.

I’m in the least few likes list on my team. My manager hired people after the cuts last October. So I’m waiting to see if I’ll be in the RIF lost this time around.

I recall several people coming to this chat and swearing that RIFs were random and none of the managers had no prior knowledge. That they were totally an HR discussion.

This thread from both sides of the discussion further proves that wasn't true.

I know multiple people were RIF’d from IT TSS just because their manager did not like any of them. Turned around an hired someone a few weeks after their last day.

I think this is very true. My PL made zero qualms in letting me know she didn't like me and I was RIF'd. Then again, she talked cr-p about all of her subordinates to each other.

Not sure on the business side, but in the IT side the RIF is used to cut the people they don’t like. You can be the hardest worker in the team, and if management doesn’t like you then you out the door. That’s why most of the tools don’t work and why your issues don’t get resolved. Because most of the people left have no clue what to do, because they only promote and hire people that su-ks up to management.

Post ID: @1ltp+1sGxd7ES too bad they got rid of the older people with seniority. You still clearly have a job if you are "having" to do their work. I'm betting those three would trade places with you in a New York minute. Instead of feeling bad for them, you feel bad for you....disgraceful.

The 3 people I knew who were laid off in October were older and had been with the company over 6 or more years at least. Now we're stuck doing their work

I would have to disagree and agree with the OP. Explain why someone who is hired within months is among those laid off. This is becoming common practice. Employees who've been with a company for many years are being let go.

Yes, RIFs are designed to cut costs because the company failed somewhere between their performance, budget, and the number of people they've hired. Period.

If you have to put a pin on it, it's usually the people with high salaries that are RIF'd first. Either way, it's NOT the employees fault. It's the company.

RIFs are to cut costs. You never go after your top talent unless you have to. It always, always starts with under-performers. Yes, there usually aren’t enough under performing individuals to target and yes, then you have to cut quality talent.

Layoffs are for the lucky, be happy and take the money.
The real sinister behavior lies in their ugly cunning.
Pressure mounts, managers fail, it's truly disgusting,
In this battle for fairness, there's no chance of trusting.
