Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

I just read there were layoffs last week

I have no idea how I managed to miss that. Can somebody please share what exactly happened? Who and how many were impacted? Should we worry about a continuation sometime soon? It's scary to know layoffs are happening within the company while most of us are being kept in the dark about it.

Re: complaints about "incompetent management, and instead demonstrating your personal value to Cigna...", they go hand in hand where the incompetence dramatically impacts employees ability to provide value.

Most employees are ready and eager to contribute but are constantly gaslighted, micromanaged, kept in the dark, and put in the middle of their boss' politics and self serving agendas. Too many in middle management are not qualified for their positions and are in them based on politics and friendships.

This is what is driving the layoffs, as well as bad work environment!

The majority of contributors on this “layoffs” site complain too much about incompetent management, and are missing the most important demonstration of their personal value to cigna businesses and IT - through the nature and extent of work [task, owner, date, dependency, risk factors] accomplishments and outcomes dependent on the critical path cigna organizational plans and initiatives. Stop complaining and demonstrate your value because managers have very limited shelf life versus a valued contributor…

"We laid off all contractors on our team last week and they are being replaced by developers in the Hyderabad “Innovation” center in about two weeks. Problem is they will not be working USA hours and we will now be slowed down because they don’t know anything and will take months to train."

I fear our team is next for that. So ridiculous.

We laid off all contractors on our team last week and they are being replaced by developers in the Hyderabad “Innovation” center in about two weeks. Problem is they will not be working USA hours and we will now be slowed down because they don’t know anything and will take months to train. The layoffs are bad enough. But doing it to replace with all new workers who are in a different time zone and won’t be able to collaborate is even worse. Fork this place. I wish they had laid me off at this point.

It's getting to the point we are getting numb to this and just waiting our turn.

Scratch that - seems his entire team was laid off. I guess a new dev team was hired in India.
