Thread regarding Cigna layoffs

Hyderabad “Innovation” Hub 💩

On top of general “workforce reductions”, Cigna is actively eliminating onshore roles and including entire teams only to rehire them from India to save a penny. You have been warned!

This has been tried many times before and failed miserably. Entire teams are currently being replaced and management is being told to meet those targets no matter what! Even if you’re a top performing team player, all Cigna cares about is short term profits.

This strategy will definitely help us better collaborate and attract / retain top talent 🤡

✅ Culture dead
✅ Top talent gone
✅ Morale at 0

More layoffs this month and they’re actively trying to fill headcount in Hyderabad. This company makes me sick!

It's going to get worse, if you go to their job postings for evernorth most of the engineering jobs are in Hyderabad...Ireland has mainly CS Support roles...

The leaders promoting this are showing their true incompetence and lack of experience!! Maybe they should relocate to Hyderabad 😂

Imagine believing that a country where indoor plumbing and all-day electricity are both an oddity is a good place to build an innovation hub.🤣

It’s happening in my department, laying off developers and replacing them with Superbad employees.

I don’t understand how they expect to be trained, we work completely different schedules. The work environment is absolutely horrendous.

"This has been tried many times before and failed miserably."

Yep, happens in most enterprise IT at non-tech companies. It's a really silly cycle that happens every decade, but it does pump up short term numbers at the cost of exponentially increasing tech debt and constant issues which will eventually become quite expensive to fix. Shareholders don't really know any better (or care, they'll simply dump their stock before issues start causing heavy costs).

"I have an Indian boss and even he says this is a bad idea and that average developers in India su-k."

Yeah I won't forget what one of my first Indian leads said: "the ones still in India are there because they su-k at their jobs and can't get VISA sponsorship somewhere else". While it definitely made me go "oh shi- harsh", it has... held true mostly.

I have an Indian boss and even he says this is a bad idea and that average developers in India su-k. He complains about their communication and ability to work independently. Total sh-t storm that is going to ki-l Cigna even more.
