Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

VSP offers by now

If you haven’t had a call already or have one scheduled for today by now, you are NOT eligible for VSP. Only targeting certain departments and if you are in these departments, think long and hard about your career future before you opt to reject the offer. There’s a reason they were targeted.

I am praying for a VSP for the US base customer service organization soon. I was misled last year when the VSP was offered, saying that the current roles would basically stay the same yet they turned around and did a 180 and made all of us sales with a little bit of customer service. It’s definitely not a job I would’ve taken. So here’s hoping for an offering soon. After 23 years, I would not have expected this.

If you have signed your severance agreement by your off payroll date, you will receive your funds within 45 days.

If you accept the VSP and are approved for it, do you receive a lump sum on your last day of work - Sept. 13?

in the fine print, there is this: Those employees who are not eligible for the program but who are involuntarily separated with a notification date between May 1, 2024 and March 28, 2025 and are otherwise eligible for severance under the Severance Program will receive an enhanced benefit to align with the separation pay and benefits offered through the program. To receive this enhancement, they will be required to have a valid Separation Agreement and Release. This enhancement does not apply to employees identified as ineligible in Question 18.

There is simply no way to know if you're going to get hit if you don't take it. I didn't take it in 2017 and I'm still here. Anything else is pure speculation and FUD factor at work.

My manager tells me with very credible sources that for those RIF'd last week, the same package will be announced as well. 3 weeks x years of service capped at 60 weeks. Only that the timeline to be off the payroll (clock) by end of June remains in place. Tick tock.

VZ has created alot of new jobs. So as long as Biden and VZ consider it a world economy we are good right?

Meanwhile biden is shouting he created a stronger economy and brought back so many jobs. What a liar.

@pqx+1sRBmfdw They did not offer to Infosys rebadgers. They offered to those who opted NOT to go to Infosys and were terminated. If you went to HCL, you will not get severance, except anything that was offered as part of the transfer, especially from 6 months ago.

and they offered it to the Infosource rebadgers in 2019. Hope they offer to those of us sent to HCL 6 months ago.

Hey gang, I know back in 2018 if people were rif'd a few months earlier they got the extra 25 weeks on top of the standard 35 weeks of RIF.. anyone here anything about this?

If you don’t take it, you will very likely be RIFed in the future. Verizon is doing this for good press and to make sure you are volunteering to leave instead of being forced to leave at this time. Just a very educated guess here.

No call, but did just get the Sam email with a link to the portal and does your calculations on what the VSP looks like for you personally.

Back in 2018, a meeting popped up on my calendar shortly after the general announcement. Nothing yet. Mixed feelings about that.

I’ve accepted VSP from another large company. The process was similar to Hans email, you get the details shortly after then your direct manager nudges you to accept or reject.

Last time no one contacted me when I was offered VSP. It’s all through email. Han’s sent out an email to the management employees announcing the VSP offer this morning. There will be a second email that will come out shortly explaining the offer and criteria.

So now we wait until end of day to see if we get the Sam email? It would have been better if they have a fighter time frame. Like by 10:00 Est.
