Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Is there any idea behind all the chaos?

I’m hoping there is. But I suspect it would be better to evacuate this sinking ship. It’s so sad to watch a mediocre mgmt running company to the ground. It’s almost like that’s been the intention all along.

Anyone with any clue as to what is happening in the tech industry knows Cisco is just managing its decline.

However, that doesn't preclude Cisco from being extremely profitable for senior executives. This is why they can still get people to sign up for senior executive jobs that have no chance of improving the outlook for the company - because it greatly improves the outlook for their personal investment portfolio.

These mercenary senior executives hang on for as long as they can because of their compensation and their perks which have little to no correlation to their performance. Chuck needs people willing to play a performative role, and he rewards them for that.

It’s only chaotic until you realize that most senior leadership are really empire building.

Sure, they put on a nice facade. But do you think some trying to climb the corporate ladder, either inside or ultimately outside, really cares about success of the underlying business?

My guess is a big fat “no”. Promotion is the end goal for most.

Employees who are proud to say and vote that cisco is the ‘best company to work for’ should read this blog. I’m sure many do !. They are in a bubble. They need to think outside the bubble. The truth is out there !!

Many companies in the Bay Area are just like Cisco…..nonstop cost cutting, outsourcing and bad or poor management. Best company is like a just a mirage in desert. The more closer you get, you get more confused. Think hard if you have good judgment and critical thinking !!

It is so funny that you come to this board to post about people who come to post on this board. You do get the irony right? Nothing wrong with voicing opinions and concerns so don’t try to shut it down, Take your faux indignation to the Cisco is the best place in the world to work at board. Sure it’s out there somewhere.

Thousands of cisco employees read this blog to learn more about the inner workings or things that are not discussed inside the company.

You are brainwashed to think in certain way inside your company. This board provides an alternate thinking or open discussion about many things.

Humans are social animals. This board gives us a forum to discuss things which cannot be discussed on internal company chat or apps.

Many are frustrated with the direction and decisions taken by 60-70% of managers and upper management. There are definitely good ones, may be around 30-35%.

Nothing wrong in discussing things that we want to improve. Many groups are not open to constructive criticism to improve the product or work culture.

"I’m in a successful part of SBG and it feels like a sweatshop now. Leadership has been clueless. Everyone at my level is ......."

Yes SBG leadership including product management is clueless. This is a very immature and inefficient organization. So much time is wasted because of constant change of directions by clueless VP's. Some VP's such as Ric.. Crai... are just con man who are deceiving even themselves. This guy promoted two extremely incompetent people only because they make him feel good. TK Ke... is another one but after many years of wasting everyone's time and talent he got laid off.

I’m in a successful part of SBG and it feels like a sweatshop now. Leadership has been clueless. Everyone at my level is basically being told to “do more with less”, all the while freezing hiring, terrible raises and lack of promotions.
