Out of office this week, worrying about what’s going on.

They stopped laying people off and now just fire people for not being in the office 3 full days a week. I'd say the executive level is too stupid to realize they get more value from people who don't waste their time and energy commuting into the office but this is by design. Very few teams and jobs benefit from in person collaboration. The real reason for the RTO for us peons is that it's cheaper to fire then layoff.
I was at Staples 16 years in multiple departments. I was laid off in November of 2021 and at first I was sad and scared I wouldn’t find another good paying job. I am now making almost 50% more at another company. I thank Staples for giving me tons of experience and then laying me off so I can find a better job. Staples isn’t everything, get as much experience as possible and take it to a better company, making more money.
Yeah nothing to see here. The targeted smaller fires are still happening with severances each week in various areas of the company. Not the normal annual massacre. Should be safe until the holidays for that strategy and typically a mass one happens every two years if history continues to repeat.
Looks like another case of Fake News
Nothing of consequence.
