Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Charlie Sharf makes 29 MILLION!

It’s so weird that I’ve worked here for 28 years and I only make $78,000, I did everything in this bank from treasury customers, project management, sales, quality assurance, business banking, coding, everything in this bank I just I can’t even say what I haven’t done in my 28 years, like what the actual eff when the CEO makes 29 million, like what is this sh-t?! I’ve done everything at this bank, to be honest.

Tell me what he’s done? I’m being honest please just let me know what he’s done.

Loyalty is no longer rewarded. The only way you're going to make more money is if you switch companies every few years. Take a look at Scharf's recent job history:

2019 - present: WF
2017 - 2019: BNY Mellon
2012 - 2016: Visa

I doubt he'll stick around much longer.

Buddy if you’re making 78k after all those years then the only reason why is that you simply have done nothing to move the needle for yourself or the bank. You dont make life easier for your manager, you don’t put in an extra hour here and there, you don’t make an impact on new teammates, you don’t make anything work better. You clock in, push buttons, and clock out. That ain’t gonna get you any promotions.

Who cares what Charlie makes. Take control of your career and jump ship, otherwise, you shouldn't complain about making 78k after 28 years.

@vla+1sUPtYeE, I think the other poster was talking about senior managers, executive directors, heads of department, etc. Not junior managers like yourself.

“managers and directors that make $300,000 to $500,000”
Mgr here. Your estimates are very high.

Tell your kids and grandkids not to stay that long at a company. It will bite you. It’s been that way since the 90s. WF is starting to finally act like its peer group.

Lousy salary for 28 years on the job.

@hfs. Yeah it ends up being all politics. I used to think the business with the best product, or service would win. When the business spends most of its time with internal politics instead of external products/services they fail in the long term.

Charlie has the right pedigree went to the top notch skills and is personable and BFFs with the rest of his peers across the industry. That is all that matters

this is not going to be popular comment. If you are still making that then my guess is you grew within Wells Fargo but you did not go outside and get a degree in something that would show value. I have changed companies and jobs over 6 times and changed positions within a company every 2 to 3 years. Most long timers seem to get by at Wells Fargo which is great. But are your skills really relevant or are they specific to Wells Fargo. That is going to be your issue. You are responsible for your career. They paid you for 28 years that is why you did the job. Sitting on thinking that they owe you something or a raise for doing the same job is not realistic. Anyone that stays in a position that long to me seems like someone that is not a someone that can leverage their skills easily. That is likely why you are 28 years and making X. Try making X somewhere else based on your same degree work experience and background but primarily are your skillsets marketable to another industry or bank

you may want to ask yourself where you went wrong in that you are only making $78k after 28 years.

I know many managers and directors that make $300,000 to $500,000 a year for doing maybe 5 hours of work a week. This company is filled with leaches that feed off of good hard working single contributors.

Who cares what Charlie makes or anyone else. This site is basically class warfare.

If you’re a CEO making 200 to 300x more than your rank and file you’re stealing from your employees.

He has the one 'skill' that the board was looking for: a complete lack of empathy and a willingness to fire the domestic workforce. That's what he's here for, and as evil as he and his Epstein Island visiting buddy Scotty P are, it's really the board that is to be blamed. This is all their idea. Shart has no ideas, and never will. He's just here to fire people.

One of my MBA textbooks provided the answer to that. The upper management wants to keep hard working high performers where they are so that the operations go smoothly everyday and senior managers don't need to worry about anything. So what do senior managers do with their spare time? Those who move up the corporate ladder don't do any actual work, but they spend so much time and energy on networking and building political connections with other executives, everyday! If you want to move up, you have to be efficient at your own political campaign. Hard work will not get you anywhere.

I don’t think Charlie has done anything remotely to help this bank to be honest. I’ve worked my a-s off everyday for this bank and is not helping and it’s truly leadership that’s not doing anything for this bank so I just have bad dreams every night!

Every night bad dreams. I can’t shake it. Maybe when I get my thoughts off of where I work, I will be better!
