I was promoted to a new position (Associate Director level 2 to Director level 3) at the start of May after nearly two months of interviews and approvals going up to level 5. I was just starting to get the hang of the new role when I received my letter saying the position had been Elevated. I am in a hub, in the office three days a week, and have been with AT&T for 13 years. This company has become the worst company to work with all because of all of this layoff nonsense.

Never be the new person in a workgroup in this environment. You’ll always get the tap first.
They keep asking us if we want to do job swaps to broaden our knowledge. I hear ‘do you want to be the new unknown person in a different workgroup so we can lay you off first’. Heck no.
You just a UUID. They ain’t your mama.
We can train ya fer wire tech. There’s a good cartoon on tip and ring.
re: "13 years experience will help with your new “role” as a wire technician."
Sorry to break it to you but 13 years, only in management and probably a college hire, specifically disqualifies you for any position that actually has a product or performs any actual work.
Wishing you good luck in your future employment..
Hope you didn't relocate for that promotion. They are brutal with the ax these days
And they wonder why culture is what it is!
If you kept a job then you kept the salary bump as well.
The fall of the T empire. Mistreat the people that actually run the company and drive the stockholders to sell. That’s how you destroy the value of a corporation. Shame on the BOD and Stinky and Stevenson.
Look on the bright side, 13 years experience will help with your new “role” as a wire technician.
OP: Do you have a chance to get demoted or are you gone by a certain date?
T had buyer’s remorse.
if Stank has to approve THIS then ehat's the point of any of HR, management, and about 85,099 useless out here. This Stank approval has to be BS
What did you do?
Stankey did not approve. All GM level and above promotions must be signed off by the man himself. Does not trust current leadership team ability in selecting talent.
needs of the business.
"elevated" = "eliminated"
spellcheck
What does elevated mean?
This story doesn’t make any sense.
You were promoted early May. You had your new title, webphone was updated, and your new salary?
Then a month later they send a letter saying sorry?
Never heard of anything like that before.
Have you been keeping your eyes shut the last 13 years?
