I do agree that the quality of PEs and above have declined dramatically at Intel. Technical leadership promotions are not about technical competence but lobbying and remaining close to the decision-makers, which is where the core issue is. Some of the people who have been promoted to PE positions are a joke to be honest. I am not expecting any leadership from any of them since all they worry about is climbing up the ladder by stepping on others.

Not saying no layoffs, but with 50K in one go you may as well shut shop. Intel roles and responsibilities are so fragmented and specialized, the remaining ones will not be able to figure out where the switches are to keep the lights on. I think that's why they keep trickling these CPM's here and there non stop for months, to ensure business continuity.
