Thread regarding SAP layoffs

Are the remaining Concur people left to train their own replacements

So, particularly on teams that were decimated but not wiped out, do you think the people who were kept are now essentially in the role of keeping the lights on long enough to train their own replacement squads?

I heard that one team would be meeting their new colleagues from "emerging locations" by the end of the month.

not on the concur team but our team is being forced to train our replacements in India - if we don't then no severance package.

Concur will collapse probably, a lot of knowledge and many talented engineers are impacted. It's so bad that products will be canceled since the leads are out.

"So, particularly on teams that were decimated but not wiped out" -- "decimated" literally means "reduced by one-tenth," when in fact, SAP Concur was reduced by one-sixth.

Can you share a link to that article? I googled and couldn’t find it. Would be an interesting read.

"When I was laid off in 2019 I had been training an intern to do a lot of my job before the ax came down." Bloody interns. Why don't they just say, "Freshers with no job experience we can underpay"? Because "engineers" are fungible, right?

When I was laid off in 2019 I had been training an intern to do a lot of my job before the ax came down.
Having to stay on for a month to collect severance was really uncomfortable. I can’t blame anyone for not supporting those left to pick up the pieces. It’s not your problem and SAP can figure it out. Concur product is really going to suffer.

Think the good people left at concur mostly won't be picking up the workload of the great people who were let go, as we now realize nobody cares about our work anyway. Bare min time.

Concur will suffer in long term. I am impacted. Teams don't know many things that I do as they have never done Or know and there is no documentation. I already see the impact. Things that I do in 5 min, people are taking more than 2+ days with no clue if they have done is right or wrong. Very bad management & planning. They should have given at least 6 months' notice, and trained others so everyone got time for change. Now, the existing people are more stressed and would suffer too.

So the people who need to do that are been made to stay extra for their severance. So if your left you're probably safe for 2024 before the next round of blood letting to quench the dreaded thirst of the market starts in 2025

Looks like no one knows. A product owner was impacted by the "restructuring" and he said he cannot help with anything anymore, not providing any back up or alternative contact. It's so messed up.
