I'm a little over 30 days from my last day. It's odd to hear you're right all the time and then be let go. My 10 years experience tells me vz is anti idea and anti progress. Funny thing is my ideas were basically free and saved millions and vz focused on expensive things that didn't save or do anything. Corp bs at its best. They can't stand ideas. Make 2 billion more or take credit for an extra million. Wow.

I hear you bit unfortunately in companies like Verizon you are an employee just like a worker in a factory and management only likes you to just do work and task assigned. Management doesn't want ideas from you. Management only likes employees who work and only do what is asked from them dont create waves or question why things are veing done a certain way. Management is happy with salaried employees who work more than 40 hours a week and not ask for compensation and are available to work nights and weekends. That's their ideal salaried employees have seen in Network Midwest they promote salaried employees who working long hours no matter they are not technical or that work could have been done efficiently in short amount of time. Working smart and getting work done in short time would only get management to say it was easy and they assign more work than when employees work long hours and do things in inefficient way (I am not saying "working hard" but "working long hours" for management to be happy).
I guess be happy you don't work for 3M or DuPont? There your ideas could have been worth 10's of millions and still the focus would be on "corporate bs".
Nothing you said has any impact on why you were terminated. It's all about the $ that you cost the company in terms of salary and benefits. If they can find a contractor or offshore employee to do it cheaper, you are gone.
I'm sorry some of these other posters have no compassion. Yes, the company only owes a paycheck, but until you've been in the shoes of someone who has lost their job, try not to be such a butt hole.
Karma.
Sooo…..paid to do a job for 10 years and now crying that your ideas were free . Loser ! You get a job , do your job , get paid . That’s how it works . Go start your own company
Congratulations on finally landing that promotion. The best that VZ can give you.
Dear OP, you got it twisted, my friend ...
A company provides a paycheck in return for work, period. When that direct deposit hits your bank account, you are compensated for all the time, effort, and ideas you bring to the role, so no your ideas weren't for free.
I also work with some of the smartest people and groups in the company, and they are often told they are not right.
Yeah , right
