We all know a large group from ITFP and SE Chapter went on an overseas trip. Two stops primarily in Manila and India, for what seems to be early talks for offshoring jobs. Wonder how closely this is tied to the latest skills assessment and development plans. Guess those in SE better make sure they take their training.

@8lgx why are you "self-hold" and "self-rubbing" and all that per your poster name, can't find a date? There are plenty of single g@y men at CVX, you need to try harder. Also what does all that have to do with layoffs or company news, and all that is discussed here. Wait, never mind, I don't wanna know.
Seems the 'I self hold my single malt' bi--h asked for some posts to be removed I see!
Serious question will all SEs and IT staff be offshore to manilla or do current staff have a chance of holding onto their jobs for the next 10 years if they are good. They say it will always be a mixture so some in US and some nearshore and some manilla and some India. But the claim is that there will always be some US workers who've been building their careers here.
My bro +5lwo+, did I hit a nerve? Did you realise that you already handed over 75% of your 'work flows' and your cheaper, better and faster replacement already has them nailed?
You got the go slow on the last 25% (ie one more process) and think you can delay the axe man 18 months - baha - you be lucky to be clucken by mid year. Hold my beer.
@5juw. "no a single sole" ? That would make it equal to a 2 hour on the job training program for you where the instructor was stoned.
@5syx+
Yeah nah bro - you will be lucky to get 6 months more on the gravy train. In that time you 'hand over' your 30 years of on the job training, which is ~ equal to a 2 years grad program at a real company in the real world. At that point, up you will shop your wares but alas, no one will care - no a single sole out there. Yeah yeah yeah.
You get what you pay for. Indian workers are not great quality. Also something should be said for loyalty to the country who has made this company successful.
So I guess there's nothing we can do to stop all our jobs going overseas? If everything goes overseas then what's the point of the houston office? If everything goes overseas doesn't that make the company look bad?
Why keep those jobs in Houston when you can take them overseas and pay them the USD equivalent of $100 month. Trust me I don’t need a lot of US people if I can get India employees for 1/20 th of the cost. You all just made everything digital and workflows for everyone. All of this info has been harvested and is the building blocks for workforce overseas. Can’t believe you all didn’t see it. The old boomers knew and would never write this stuff down for a reason but you kids who went to MIT handed it over like it was garbage. When someone bloats up your ego you will do some d-mb things.
It's a no brainer! India is next. For all of you who said "why can't we work from home"...here is your response
literally zero 0 presence in India!! another new center when Manila already is in the same low cost geo?
Hey BB, EB, MN and MW
👉🖕
What happened to loyalty to the people and country that our company is from? Our current executives for sure don't care about any of their US employees and they should be ashamed of themselves. Horrible people that shouldn't be able to sleep at night if they had any soul left.
Shell has 13000 people in India. BP has 2000. Exxon has 5000.
What do you think?
All the finance jobs seem to be in Buenos Aires.
