I remember back when this company would scoff at the idea of adding self checkout stations to the stores. Said that "we value employing members of the community, people need jobs." Now every store is jam packed with self checkout stations and understaffed on the registers, purposefully of course.
No wonder the bodega model is what's coming down the pipeline now. They are really trying to eliminate as many in person jobs as possible and move to an autonomous model. Know how to get rid of all the complaining team members? Just get rid of the team members, period.
