Badge-in tracking won't be accurate

Managers have received info about compliance tracking for hybrid. The long and short of it is that the tracking isn't going to be very effective. There are a lot of allowances for manager discretion. It keeps making references to "compliance is reported in ranges" to take into account travel, time off, sick leave, etc.

Also, it's mentioned that if your location doesn't have a badge reader: "We do not have a way to systematically account for onsite attendance where no badge reader is available, so we will use the honor system and trust that you are adhering to the policy."

….” Dell has told workers it will track the onsite presence of hybrid employees – those who work part remotely, part in the office – using electronic badge swipes, VPN monitoring, and a rather creepy color-coding system.

"In the latest Jeff Clarke return-to-grade-school initiative, HR will be keeping an attendance report card on employees, grading them at four levels based on how well they meet the goal of being in the office 39 days a quarter," a source familiar with Dell told The Register, referring to the IT giant's chief operating officer.

"Employees who do not meet the attendance requirement will have their status escalated up the ladder to Jeff Clarke, who apparently believes that being a hall monitor trumps growing revenue."

Starting May 13, Dell intends to provide employees with weekly updates on their onside presence through its HR software, with reports accompanied by a color-coded rating. The ratings will include green, yellow and red flags for ‘regular,’ ‘some’ and ‘limited’ on-site presence, with a special blue flag awarded to those with ‘consistent’ on-site presence.
source familiar with the matter told The Register the new initiative, spearheaded by COO Jeff Clarke, is designed to monitor the on-site presence of the company’s hybrid workers.

The system will be used to grade employees based on their presence in the office for at least 39 days per quarter, which equates to around three days per week.

@1pgt+1shK5ZxS, managers are being "ki-led" at Dell since December 2023.

you must be remote only if you've never forgotten your badge. It happens.

If you can't find your badge, you deserve to be laid off. Useless salad writers.

I did remote because despite all the talks, we all know they will have no trouble laying off in either camp.

swiping your badge will not protect you.

What happens if you forget your badge and get a temporary one for a day??? It's all bs. That's why I just stayed remote. Idc if they cut me for it later. It's better than dealing w9th false reporting issues. They can't get my regular kpi reports accurate like seeds and calls so why should I think they will get my badge in kpi correct too? This will be drama and I can't wait to watch it blow up in senior management's over paid faces.

@1rbc+1shK5ZxS there will most likely be traced with Employee names building, date time ID created and tracked on a HR managerial Director VP portal. And ability to export to spreadsheet and perhaps it will be a performance metric at review.
Have to see what is messaged as year progresses.

Tell Dell (or more simply, grade your manager survey) where every single question including open text, are used against your manager.... Will be interesting this year!!!

They should ask the question: would you have answered much differently if you knew your answers didn't directly impact your manager and your own team?

Even the questions on senior leaders or company general questions come back to the manager, "oh they didn't effectively strategy cascade", so still the managers fault. Rto might make it the worst year ever

Dell is the most passive aggressive company. They’re also the most hypocritical and unsteady company. One minute they’re declaring how wonderful working at home is and everyone is doing it wrong then another they’re implementing some passive aggressive return to work policy. Guys - get your act together.

They’re so unprepared. But that’s typical for Dell.

My team needed to wear badges throughout their workday & all sites required a badge-in entry. Even those with an Admin for entry still required a badge to enter past the lobby.
