Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

Cheeky statement RV — “Our “ India” people drive BNY Mellon forward”

Our people drive BNY Mellon forward, and we want them to feel a sense of purpose and belonging in work and in life. One important focus is creating an environment that’s both high-performing and human – so we all thrive together.

With a stark rise in mental health challenges among adults and kids around the world, we’ve taken a purposeful approach. As one of my former employers often reminded me, “Hey, we call it ‘work’ for a reason,” but we also strive to provide our people with experiences and resources to support them and help make #LifeAtBNYMellon the best it can be.

We do this in many ways, but these are a few of my favorites:
1️⃣ Expanded mental health benefits and brought on Spring Health to help us enhance personalized services while increasing accessibility.
2️⃣ Collaborate with mental health industry leaders including One Mind at Work, MindForward Alliance and Disability:IN.
3️⃣ A growing cohort of 350+ trained colleagues around the world who make up our Mental Health Champions.

We even introduced panoramic rooftop lounges atop several offices for teams and friends to enjoy coffee, lunch and a view during the workday. I know I’ve benefited recently from a few fresh-air breaks to clear my head after meetings and hope many others will too.

Learn more below about our expanded mental health benefits as we commemorate Mental Health Awareness Month.

Every generation seems to become ever more fragile. It turns out that working through hardships strengthens mental health.

When I was fired without cause, no warning, no bonus & no 401K match near the end of year, HR was nice enough to tell me that the terms were absolutely not negotiable and it was highly suggested that I use the free 3 EAP sessions they were nice enough to give me for my mental health on this matter.

That was SOOOOO nice of them!!! MH really IS important to them after all!
I declined.

What mental exhaustion? Welcome to the work era of your lives. Everything that you’ve learned about participation trophies has never applied to and never will apply to real life.

Umm depends on what job they are doing. In my department they are horrible. They make lots of mistakes and have horrible work ethic. Get constant complaints. Yeah they are driving the future of the bank to the ground. They are sc--wed when they lay off all the US based employees.

Who needs an announcement about Our “ India” people drive BNY Mellon forward”

They are full fledged employees and seriously outwork Americans… AND run laps around our U.K. Employees

Will they require the mental health industry leaders to be on site so they can collaborate? Isn't that the only way you can do it now days?

This fragility started with GenX and seems to have increased with every generation since.

You could carp about it 24 x seven on a layoff board until they’ll address it.

Better yet, start a job search.

@1yho

Yup. I was actually thinking of talking about not having soap most of the time too. We’re out of Clorox wipes, and have the same junk coffee. They closed our prepared foods cafeteria and now it’s just vending machines with over priced chips and sandwiches.

@1fox+1skkJRcJ You are not alone. Our bathroom soap dispensers were empty for months. I hear coworkers talk about getting their Starbucks and sandwiches while my location has an old bunn drip machine with stale bags of coffee. Really demoralizing.

Such BS. They’re trying to help with mental issues but at the same time cause most of it. They don’t seem to understand all the mental exhaustion and depression they are causing from all this outsourcing. All this constant retraining teams that have constant turnover and take ownership of nothing. And on top of it Bny created this internal caste system between the Growth Centers and the Shrinking Centers where those of us at the Shrinking Centers feel worthless constantly. They fix nothing with the building and create such a depressing environment. We barely even have trash cans. I think there’s 4 on the whole floor. We had more but once they merged buildings they took some away. Have to keep our sn-t rags on our desks until we walk out for the day. God for bid you share a desk lol. Rooftop lounges. WTH. They can’t even give us a bench to sit on outside.
