Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Where are the real men of ExxonMobil?

Just curious, where are the real men with backbones who will stand against the evil of management and the unfair ranking system? Do real men even exist in this company? I’d like to stand behind those real men of courage dedicated to make a difference instead of listening to the complaining pa----s on this board, which is embarrassing. Talk less and have the “courage of conviction” to have a backbone and lead people to refuse this company’s nonsense. Fight back!

If any existed, they were PIP’d due to not falling into line.

Typical process is to congratulate them on their steadfast convictions and promote them to CL28, at which point they are sacrificed to the bottom of the ranking to prop up HiPos.

After serving time at bottom of the rank group, bottom 5% given NSI even though outperformed some of the HiPos.

I did. Decided I was going to leave. Spent next year telling execs how they were wrong on culture development, pointing out d-mb staffing decisions, and challenging rankings. Also, my favorite, pointing out when stupid decisions turned out exactly like the execs had been warned when they were looking for someone to blame. “We told you this would happen when you decided this was the right course of action!” NSI next ranking…took the money and walked! Happily!!

Demonstrated Courage of Conviction and stood up for what’s right, result was that 20+ years of Outstanding / Top-quin rankings got flushed. Ranking dropped to Good, Potential destroyed. Just hanging in to retire in the not too distant future & go work for someone else.

I put in my true opinions into a survey and got nsied the following ranking session. I was naive and stupid to believe the survey is anonymous and felt the situation was so bad that I got to say something. Paid my price.

I did and had my wings clipped, mid 40s with no future growth potential. They only want to promote people they think like them.

Real men (i.e. men and women of integrity) in ExxonMobil were terminated in November 2020.

Men/Women of Integrity Have These Values

Justice
They advocate for fairness and justice, both in their immediate environment and the broader community. This involves standing against injustice and working towards a more equitable society, recognizing the importance of justice in achieving peace and harmony.

Transparency
They are clear and open in their communications and actions, ensuring they are understandable and accessible. Transparency builds trust and makes it easier for others to see the authenticity of their intentions and actions.

Responsibility
They take ownership of their actions and their consequences, both good and bad. This sense of responsibility ensures they are accountable for their impact on others and the world around them, striving always to contribute positively.

Courage
Facing challenges head-on and standing up for what is right, even in the face of adversity, is a hallmark of their character. Men of integrity show courage by defending their principles and those who are vulnerable, understanding that true strength lies in doing what is right, not what is easy.

Fairness
They make decisions and act in ways that are just and equitable, striving for fairness in all situations. This includes recognizing their biases and working to mitigate them. Fairness is non-negotiable because it upholds justice and equality.

Honesty
Men of integrity prioritize truthfulness in all their dealings. They understand that honesty builds trust, which is the foundation of strong relationships, both personal and professional. They refuse to compromise on the truth, even when it may be uncomfortable or disadvantageous to themselves.

OP almost all of them have resigned, retired, or been forced out. The few still with the company don't give a fu-k anymore. They're there just for the money. That's it. No contributions at all. They don't care. And the new young hires don't know what to do or who to ask. We're lost. All the experience's gone with the old people. We're learning how things work from scratch by trying things which usually fail until we figure it out. It's painful and expensive for the company. But that's what the management committee wants.

My understand a few years ago there was a survey done with execs LT to help on the culture and eval. DW told HE no thanks. The problem these LT make a lot of money floating minutia with little effort. They buddy up with other LT and their own group on some of this. I don’t see it changing. I’m starting to see younger LT coming up now that are continuing the same high pay for little work tactics.

There are many of us who have tried and the other comments on here reflect my own experience. I was a real “woman” who stood up for my techs, supervisors, GFs, engineers etc and I was NSId for it and forbidden from asking questions or speaking in company forums (people knew I’d ask the questions they didn’t want to be sanctioned for) and then fired - after passing my PIP. Nearly twenty years of institutional knowledge, getting important stuff done and centring people, let go. I do not regret it though, if anything I wish I’d gunned even harder. I still have my humanity in tact. None of the executives or really anyone above supervisor level can maintain their humanity there and also rank well enough to succeed and avoid being fired. So all the real men and women are gone or on PIPs and about to be gone.

I certainly tried… NSI came 3 months later. Longevity is based on your ability to keep your head down and never be even slightly perceived as “rocking” the boat.
