Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

I was laid off from Wells Fargo, NC with 20 yrs experience. Since my layoff, bills got behind and had some negative activity hit my credit report. A recent job offer at another financial institution was rescinded after they pulled my credit report.
Am I now no longer eligible to work in the finance industry because of my negative credit report? Am I wasting my time applying for finance because of my CBR? What are job titles that don't check credit within finance?

Leads me to my question..when our laid off time arrives, do we still get paid every two weeks during the 60 day notice period????

As others have said, if you're laid off, you will get all your normal pay for a minimum of 4 months (60 days notice + minimum of 8 weeks severance) and for plenty of employees it's 6+ months of pay.

I fully realize that lots of people live well beyond their means, but if you work at Wells Fargo, you need to cut back now, and cut deep. Get down to living on 2/3 of your income so that for every 3 months you work, you're putting away a month of savings. I started doing so back in March 2020 when the pandemic hit and it put me in fantastic shape when I was laid off late last year.

Your life already su-ks if you work for Wells. Don't make it even worse by failing to have plenty of savings for when your number comes up in the layoff lottery.

This whole post smells of bs. Laid off , got behind on bills- the job application and asked about 60 day waiting period .

If you are going to create a sh-t post , at least try to get the details somewhat right.

What ever happened to temping? I have been laid off in the past, but I’ve never been out of work. I was always able to keep busy and bring in some money by signing up with multiple temp agencies. Some of the assignments were waking nightmares, and I walked out of a couple, but there was always something else.

And now there’s the gig economy. If someone is not working it’s because they don’t want to. There’s work out there. Maybe not your dream job, but there is work.

After 20 years here and you still can't figure out how to protect yourself from life events.
Sad.

@pev+1sz27GcJ The quoted post doesn’t say how long they’ve been out of work but they probably never adjusted to living that American dream. So many live straight pay check to pay check and make no adjustments to their expenses to life safer. Poster could have ran out of severance before they got a new job and ran themselves into a hole.

Prime example of live within your means, have an emergency fund (whatever that is to you) and have a plan.

make sure you build up savings and try not to spend .kre than your make while times are good. while the job market is t great, should I be laid off I have a number of levers I can pull to lower my monthly cash flow and between severance and savings I'm probably good for 18mo before I have to worry about what bills get paid and don't.

Id also point out that it isn't just financial service companies that pull credit reports.

Thank you for your reply, such a relief. It made me wonder with what happened to this person who fell behind on their bills after being laid off. How horrible they had a job offer that was rescinded when their updated credit report was pulled. Turbulent and unstable times going on and ahead. I've been in the work force 39 years. A good portion of that here where our jobs are being sent overseas. I hope none of us go through what this person has. I'm not looking forward to job hopping again. This has been the most stable job until this year of layoffs here.
