Chuck needs to be reminded he’s running a business, not a non-profit. Laser focus on new products/innovation is what’s needed and that spending could make a big difference. It’s time to be ruthless, cut the non value add and invest in product development, not PowerPoint/social media. Move with speed, gain share and credibility back.

I went looking into BT's organization today - the "Senior Vice President and Chief Social Impact Officer". He oversees leadership of our inclusive future work including social justice, advocacy, accessibility, and community impact.
Fair enough. But he also has a very big budget (100's of millions I believe) to give away to the causes of the worthy. Ok, looks like they want to do it properly after they mistakenly threw lots of money at BLM (and we know where that went).
But, there are 86 (yes, EIGHTY SIX) people in his organization, including:

VP, Office of Accessibility
Director, Social Innovation Investments (SII)
Community Impact Corporate Purpose Leader
Matching Gifts Program Manager

Plus 15-20 program managers (handing out cash).
So that department probably costs around US$25-30m plus all the cash they hand out.
And yet, we're laying off engineers - make it make sense!!
My understanding is that the whole entire company will be laid off.

Hard to believe splunk was paid to take over csco 2 years after it would have made sense. Fire everyone down to most sr director levels. Anything above is incompetent. Most, but not all sr directors are useless, as are ALL the last year and a half of director promos.
