Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

DAYS and HOURS in the office being tracked

It's not only the number of days you are in the office but how many hours per day. Reports are being run with that information and have been for 2 months now. People who are not spending enough time in the office are subject to being written up and then termination. It won't be a layoff with severance. For those who don't stay more than an hour or two (and definitely for those who badge in and back out in the same hour) of course that's your choice to do that but be prepared that you may be put on a performance plan and/or terminated.

Do Saturday Sunday badge-in count? Asking mainly to avoid traffic and make-up weekly if falling short during the workdays due to childcare and other reasons

What a joke. Who really cares if you track hours or minutes. A layoff is a layoff. People are just resources at Wells. Collect your check and alway look for a higher paying job elsewhere. Job jumping works. Covid and remote work was the best thing really…. You didn’t have to work face to face with cr-ppy managers and directors. Put on a happy face.

By all means keep doing what you are doing then. It must all be fake. You sound like the type of person to act shocked and will be the first to cry "no fair" when you get let go.

Oh, so the three posts in a row all saying they see "days and hours and minutes" look authentic to you? come on.

I love how so many people are saying this is fake and managers don't see the hours but then there are several managers posting that they can and do see hours. Just because your LOB doesn't have it yet , doesn't mean it's not out there and doesn't mean it's not coming. They are looking for any way possible to get rid of people or give poor ratings so people want to leave. Less people AND less severance payout is the goal!

I’ve heard about at least one person getting fired over this, but in their case I believe they were literally just swiping their badge and then turning around and going home. And it was only looked into after suspicions arose due to nobody ever seeing them in office despite reporting saying they were there 3 days per week.

As someone who builds reporting(not RTO reporting), the way I would track time is to take the time stamps of all badge swipes and network IPO pings, and then just calculate the time difference between the earliest and latest of either in a given day. Trying to segment in/out throughout the day would be probably cause more headaches and false positives than it would be worth.

How can they fire us for a requirement that hasn’t been communicated? The policy simply says in-office and/or on PTO for 3 days per week. It says nothing about how long.

Manager of team here, non core. Confirming what other managers have shared. Reporting visibility does show just days in office per week. No option to select hours unless there's a report we have no visibility to. It does look at badge swipes primarily to my understanding. Had an employee that was in office but was using a temp badge and they did not show in office despite connecting daily for a full week.

Also not sure how things are now, but I know years ago getting badge swipes records was incredibly difficult. Had an employee pre covid that would badge in and log in, then walk out and go sit in their car for an hour multiple days a week. Tried to get badge swipes for proof because I felt bad the others on the team were getting stuck picking up their work, rolled to my 3 up, and HR flat out refused. Might be different now, but it was next to impossible back then.

manager of managers in CSBB here. I also review these reports - and there is nothing about hours. I am also able to see my own tracking and it does not show hours.

My understanding is the same as other managers on this thread have posted in the case that there is reason to investigate someone further, it can be pulled as a custom request, but it is not being used to indicate in or out of office status on the reports.

They do look at IP address as a backup for locations where there is no badging (local mortage offices, for example)

Totally Fake news, they can only track badge swipes and network log ins at my location. It depends on the office building’s capabilities and mine is not sophisticated at all!

Former director/ SVP here. Left end of last year. Had a dashboard I could review badge in and out days as well as hours in office. The dashboard was customizable to show what data you wanted to see. Expectation was 6 hours equalled a day in office. I believe that level of focus was LOB specific. Our leader was a total j€rk and we were told we had to track both in office days and hours.
Those who have more liberal leaders are lucky.

You do realize that the free candy they handed out for Appreciation Week included Nanoairtags that you ingested and so they can track your exact location 24/7. It can even determine whether you are awake or asleep. So, if you're asleep at home right now, be ready for that knock on the door telling you that you've been terminated.

Director here in CIB. I get the 90-day reports. Badge swipes 100 percent. IP ONLY if there is a problem. Hours in office, no, not seeing the reporting on that. I think it’s there if you need it. Have heard of “investigations” looking at IP hits and hours in but only if it gets to that point. LOBs probably different, but in CIB this is how it’s going.

To those saying this is BS, our manager showed us on a meeting (about a year ago) how they track us. My manager logins to a site where our badges swipe with times are shown. IP address is also tracked. My manager is at a Director level. We are under the COO (Scott Powell).

I was talking to one of the site managers at a non-hub location last week. He said all tracking has been done by IP for the last 2 months. After all, Wells has you MAC address and can quickly correlate that to the IP you're using. If that IP is coming from a Wells block, you're in the office.

He said they weren't using it to track time.

This would be a major change and you would think there would have some subtle hints dropped. Because what is a full day in office varies by LOB and manager.

Of course it is something they could track, but never have before.

My manager gets a report of how many hours we spend in the office and how long were we connected to the network. We are supposed to spend at least 4 hours each day. So yeah this very much true. We are being tracked for sure. We got people who were let go from our team who were badging in and out without staying the whole 4 hours.
