Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

ELT created this system for retired and H!B employees

I hate to be so negative but from where I sit I mostly see people who are riding out the ends of their career or people who are working on immigration status. So many top engineers moved on a long time ago and enticing new ones to join is nearly impossible, from what I've experienced. This truly was a huge opportunity squandered because Cisco was far too cheap and can't able to recognize talent.

Cisco obtains the key talent it wants through acquisition. All other hires are simply there to keep the lights on. Acquire, layoff, rinse, repeat.

Life on the other side is exceptional...far better than I imagined. Cisco is an addiction moreso than a fulfilling career.

I’m riding it out too. Hopefully to get a pay out. Still do my work to the best of my abilities but ready for the out and the next chapter in life. It’s hard when you get older to repeatedly reinvent yourself every two years with Cisco’s ever changing agenda.

The employee at the end of their careers have significantly lower compensations. All those years with raises below the rate of inflation.

Concur 100%.

Worked 18 years; then took package.

Retired mid-50s.

Look around. Most folks there since early 2000s are sitting on enough money to punch out any day; if they invested halfway realistically over their time there.

The LR package is just icing on the cake.

Once a person hits 55 years old, you can start tapping your 401k for any reason; you do not have to wait until 59 1/2 years old.

So the LR payout is just extra vacation money.

Not proud of it, just the reality; and not fair for folks in their 20s and 30s.
