Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Operations / Engineering

Anyone else noticing that VZ is clearly drawing the line between these two teams? I'm sensing that if your on the operations side of things, your going to be re-badged to HCL. Engineering side will stay on VZ payroll.

Remember that VZ signed a large contract with HCL. January timeframe they moved 6k worth of folks to HCL.

Last VSP 2018 - They moved all those folks to Infosys, then offered VSP. Then had to backtrack and offer to those Infosys folks.

Offering the VSP first (mistake learned) then re-badging those who stayed in operations.

Thoughts....

Dated model makes perfect sense for a company that embraces dated tech, dated approaches to managing a network, and dated thought processes on how to turn a company around.

Take the package and dont look back.

Wouldn’t it be engineering to be changed? Based on the fact that ops is usually company boots on the ground, where is engineering is being done remotely. Hcl employees based off shore can work remotely. But can’t do ops work remotely..

I think they are going to wait until the VSP window has closed...Then the re-badging will occur. This way they can say you had your chance...

The only way this will work is if the rebadging is delayed until the VSP window is over (March), otherwise those people should make a he-l of a stink, just like the Infosys rebadgers did.
