Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Lunar Lake delayed

As per reports, the product all of the company is resting hopes on for turning things around is delayed and will miss the key back to school window.

https://hardwaretimes.com/intel-lunar-lake-cpus-delayed/

If true, this is a real exhibition of incompetence.

Go asking Apple about N3B problems earlier and why the stupid Intel is still using it

"Not Intel problem. TSMC N3B node problem".

Nonsense!

  • Intel is the problem when with it's 10+ fabs have to go to their main competitor to get their chips fabbed.
  • It is a no brainer that TSMC wouldn't let go an opportunity to cripple the supply chain of it's main competitor.

Oh, from Back to school season, the target has moved to holiday season. Probably they will make it but will again trouble meeting demand like it is happening to Meteor Lake.

Demand outstripping supply was a good problem to have. But no longer. Demand not fulfilled is revenue lost. There are several better alternatives nowadays in AMD & Qualcomm.

@2czu, "I haven't seen any news item that says Lunar Lake delay is fake news"

Here you go :

Politics over competence. They conveniently forgot competition and you can’t force subpar products down people’s throats. Fools.

How long does it take PC manufacturers to get their product on the shop shelves once they receive a chip from Intel?

In laptops, CPUs are soldered to the board. So I assume it will be a few weeks before the CPUs are soldered in their manufacturing plants in Asia and shipped to US.

Sometime in Q3. You know we will ship one unit for sampling the last day of sept.

Funny way to show execution. AMD tells you the exact month and then beats it.

Also it’s late because AMD and Qualcomm already have AI chips out.

Fake news.
Intel said Q3.
The article said September which is, as I recall, in Q3.

Intel is trash, but come on. This is just poor journalism.

If they haven’t shipped by now the back to school window is already missed. Further delays will put the holiday window in jeopardy. There’s a lead time for intel to ship to vendors, the cpus get built into products, and those ship to retailers. Over promising and missing targets are the only things Intel does consistently.

The launch date is rather meaningless, given the games Intel loves to play. It could be a paper launch, or launched in low-volume or specific region. Just look up the history of Cannon Lake and the same stupid games can be played.

Whereas AMD is launching a full line up of mobile and desktop Zen 5 SKUs in July.

@1ybq+1t8Vr4mX, OP has posted a link to the hardware times article. If you say this is fake news, can you provide a link to a press release or any other news article that counters this? I haven't seen any news item that says Lunar Lake delay is fake news. Between the article on hardware times (and multiple other websites) and your post here, which one is trustworthy? Question yourself before questioning others.

Execution has always su-ked and its just getting worse. Main reason, Intel doesn't invest in or listen to their program execution leads, thinking all coding engineers can run business. Fools!

PG: AMD is so far in the rear view mirror, I'll need the JWST to see it!

Zen 5 is shipping in July, Pat, maybe STFU and do a bit of that leadership thing you're supposed to be doing. I know I know, either way you're collecting that massive TComp package, so do the minimium and keep shooting your mouth off right?

Intel still hasn't figured out that replacing seasoned engineers with inexperienced technicians to save a few dollars doesn't result in competitive products.

Lunar Lake was not exactly good enough in the first place but its what we had to work with.
Late to the AI-PC market in the first place, now again delayed so the competitions chips will two gens ahead by the time we get it out.

This despratly needed to be a flawless execution for Intel to have a chance in he-l for a comeback. There is NO excuse for this!

This is so typical of Intel. Pats still out there talking sh-t about the competion and selling fictitious benchmark data on non-existent chips.

Intel can't even get chips out on time using TSMC Fabs.

Students will likely be looking for laptops with the latest chips with "AI PC" branding, and devices featuring AMD or Qualcomm CPUs will be the only models that technically qualify.

The more transistors we add, the more complex it becomes and the MTBF decreases.
There is no point to adding more logic to a chip. They are becoming expensive unreliable garbage.
