Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Any layoffs from IT?

Anyone laid off from a technical or IT team?

If not, if metros continue to be eliminated, at what point do IT layoffs become imminent? Most layoffs to this point seem to have been be around patient facing or clinical roles. But if we start getting to a place where there is nobody left for IT to support. . .

Already been gutted. Most positions that could be worked remotely were moved to India in 2023. Even before I got hit, the DC was a ghost town. Third-party managed services does most of the smart hands stuff, while the Indian staff bills by total hours, not headcount, with no HR overhead.

SmartSpot is the second last stop before layoffs, they do not value IT knowledge and just want "greeters" to help reset passwords and reboot devices.

dollar figure is determined. next choose which business unit gets to find those dollars. Query employees look for highest cost. Hr looks to find which is legally permissible no protected work class individual. ( connected person or in one of government protected classes DEI etc). If the group is homogenized already then pick at will no legal ramifications. repeat until original cost figure is satisfied.

How do they decide who gets cut? Is it a lottery? Or does your DON decide? Manager decide
