Being Looked At? Does this happen?

I have a colleague that is checking up on me several times per day asking questions about what I’m doing and especially at night . The bothersome thing is sometimes I’m starting to feel baited to voice my frustrations or talk bad about the company . These calls are now happening daily to twice a day with increasing frequency On several occasions she mentioned talking to my boss on her cell. About a month ago there was another previous colleague calling trying to get me to say I’m unhappy with the company and looking for a job. It was coming from both direction.

I’ve never experienced anything like this in my professional career. Does FIS do things like this to watch what people are doing or maybe it was just these colleagues personalities. Insight greatly appreciated

Sounds like you are being baited to have your name added to a list (RIF, involuntarily transferred to a different role or possibly managed out). The culture at FIS horribly toxic… the negative reviews on Glassdoor are genuine. I had a coworker who did the same and she was my managers right hand. To extend your life there in the meantime, as the other person said, speak only positively about your contributions, the company and teams you work with or I guarantee you will hear your own words repeated and/or used against you down the line by said manager and coworker. Layoffs/RIFS/Managing people out to quit is the only real strategy FIS has.

Report it or move on. Personally, I would report it, so it doesn't happen to anyone else.

Shut this person down. Ask why they are asking questions, and what their motive is for being nosey. We are adults. Not children. So ask. If they get defensive, that's on them. If they tell you they are just checking to see if you're okay, tell them you do not need that, and to kindly stop. Again, we are adults so SPEAK UP for yourself.

Well… it certainly felt like what you stated that I was being cohersed to be painted in a bad light for some reason with all the baiting questions. Which is surprising bc I do perform for the company and produce good work while demonstrating I’m a hard worker and always have been . This is unfortunate to read but quite enlightening. Thank you for the good advice. I need to think long and hard about this. How would one deal with this situation professionally? Thank you

Yes, it happens here and anywhere that management decides they have a 'reason' to keep an eye on you. It may or may not be a reflection of you, it could just as likely be some bad actors in CYA mode.

Yes, some people are not good co-workers. They are looking to bring you down because it seems easier them than doing any actual work to bring themselves up. It ranges from people with a few narcissistic traits to full blown narcs, and even the rare complete sociopath. Watch your back and what you say. Only speak positively of yourself and how you are focusing on helping the company be successful. You are a team player.

If you are not happy here go some place else to work, life is too short. Not your fault, some people are just trouble and sometimes unfortunately moving on is the only answer. If you have to stay, be professional and learn to deal with it professionaly.
