Thread regarding L3Harris Technologies layoffs

Put my two weeks today!

It was bittersweet. I’ve only been here for 3 years and thought I’d be here for at least 5… shows that even if you have good coworkers, if a company is s***, then it doesn’t matter.

Goodluck to you all. Wish you the best

The L3Harris managers I worked with before I left all wound up wiping bird sht off my windshield. I don’t say anything, just give em a nickel or dime.

I worked for ITT/ Exelis/ Harris/ L3Harris for 20 years. I survived a spin-off, an acquisition and a merger. Not because I'm a nice person but, because I got the job done for whomever was signing the checks. I decided to retire at age 62 rather than wait until my full retirement age of 67 because I saw the company becoming a truly lousy place to work. When I gave notice, the response from my Operations Director was to call me "disloyal" for abandoning the company during it's time of need. My supervisor accused me of "leaving to make him look bad". And, my Manager was pi---d at me for not giving enough notice to plan a "party". Three weeks after I left, my former supervisor was demoted and eventually laid off in April of 2024 along with my manager. (The Director left the company on his own months before the layoffs.) There is nothing more liberating than freeing yourself from the dystopian landscape that this company has become. But, imagine the shock of pulling up to a gas pump recently and seeing my former supervisor wiping the bird sh-t off my windshield. I said nothing.
Sometimes there are just no words.

I gave two weeks notice when I left in December of 2023. The supervisor was shocked, he said no one ever gives notice at L3. There was another Nocc tester that was going to retire soon so they put my status as retired. I had already retired from the telecom industry a couple years before.

Congratulations! I quit at the 3 year mark earlier this year. I gave no notice. They did not deserve it.
