How much will Intel pay customers for unstable products?

Any guess?

I am wondering if they knew about this already internally and decided to take there chances no one would notice? Seen something like that at a prior company.

This is what happens when you cut corners. This ain’t Wendy’s fo’ sure.

My guess is somewhere north of $700M. It’s absolutely going to crater cash flow.

It depends on several factors.

  1. How many chips were sold with oxidized vias (Mandatory return approval) or lawsuit.
  2. How is the microcode patch going to affect the chips? Slower than spec = (Mandatory return approval) or lawsuit for false advertising.
  3. 13th and 14th gen degradation. Are the chips going to last a reasonable lifespan or cr-p out over time?
  4. The above mentioned issues seem to be in laptop chips also. Vendors are not going to eat the cost for rework of a processor issue when people start demanding returns or money back.
  5. Could be sued by server farms for lost revenue due to faulty chips.

Final Factor) Reputation (It's too late, we're toast)
