Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Intel needs better managers

I've had three different managers in the last two years. All were bad, but the current one is by far the worst. His attitude is disrespectful and extremely unproductive and he is only managing to hinder our work. You'd think managers would improve over time, not become less and less useful. I guess that's what you get when you hire from the outside instead of promoting deserving people.

Bad management at Intel. This caused the difference and crashing in culture, turned a tech company into a fearless lying and talking company.

At Intel rather than looking for a good manager, your time will be better spent by developing the skills to manage bad managers and a$$holes. You will ramp up in no time as there is plenty of skill practice opportunities inside.

Intel managers are those lack of technical abilities so they choose easy path instead of doing real technical engineering jobs. That is Intel way so you have to pretend to be dumper than them to be able to survive long.

Intel has gone far too long without weeding out the management ranks.

For an engineering based company it is imperative managers are good engineers before they can be good managers.

OP - So what's your point? So one cares that you have a bad manager, as if none of us have ever had that problem.

Instead of griping here about your problem, either see a shrink or find a better job. There, fixed it for you.

Intel doesn't care about having good managers.

Intel does't hire "managers". Most have no Management training or experience at all. They're generally promoted from Tech positions where they are immediately put in charge of managing their former co-workers.

They then proceed to promote their friends while ignoring the accomplishments of the people they don't know or like as well.

This has been Intel's model for decades....

Maybe their current focus is to get you to leave without severance.
