Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

US employees are so insecure, grow up and act human

Anyone who is in a USA org is increasingly growing weirder by the day with visible insecurity. Thi is hidden because they are trained to smile and talk nice but deep inside they hate anyone who is from a certain country not theirs.

For all the noise on EM being American company, please go check whoch all countries EM depends on for hydrocarbon sourcing and marketing.

Respect all humans. It will come back and bite in some form or the other. Anyone who is reading it, majority of US employees withhold information, restrict access to basic necessary things needed to learn work. And that too while being hoghly inefficient themselves, as a whole harming the business.

This culture is reflected in the constant ‘silos’ comment and feedback in endless culture surveys. Management needs to address this intentional territorial hoarding and empire building mentality of EMHC employees, they are the root of horrible cultural issues, far from professional conduct.

you are right. the need to keep the job at all costs is quite palpable with some of the North America employees. and then misguided anger toward the people who are not making the decisions that they are actually upset about.

@3nwr So, you believe what a corporation tells you?

If it isn’t explicitly stated in writing, then you’re not getting it. This includes any vague statements about having a long term career. These days “long term” is five years. People usually don’t stay with the same company longer than that, because unlike you and your colleagues, most of us have realized that corporate loyalty is complete BS.

BTC employees have come into the organization without any long term expectation. They are willing to work for now and if another opportunity comes along, they will move. That's their expectation and also what the company set for them.
Whereas, for US employees, all were told and are still told "you will have a long term career with the company ". Setting such expectation and then not delivering as an employer causes all of the resentment seen on this site.
Sorry BTC staff, you've become US Executives way of becoming the excuse (to blame). It's really their fault, not yours.
Given the above explanation, how you give the US employees some allowance in their behavior. It's not directed to you, you're just caught in the middle!

@1rrl You can say the same thing about most of the people at EMHC, but unlike the prima donnas sitting in Spring, those in BTC cost a lot less.

If the business is going to get complacency and incompetence either way, then it might as well pay as little as possible for it.

I find humor in everyone tinkinking Bangalore BTC is the future....what a joke. U know nothing of how xom works. U r only the next stepping stone. All work was in Hou. Then Moncton. Then Curitiba. Then KL. Now Bangalore. Soon they will find someplace cheaper and you will be like EMHC wondering why you are treated like a toilet. Tik-tok, tik-tok. Yur day is coming.

@1ujn BTC doesn’t exist to generate revenue. It exists to reduce labor costs.

There’s a lot of people at EMHC getting paid into the mid six-figure range to do what amounts to technical writing. Hard to see how that’s value added.

Would have to say BTC employees are basically worthless, don’t have the ability to think outside the box. While they might have a degree, generally they are taught to follow and don’t have the ability to think for themselves

@OP What you’re reading on this website is not representative of the entire U.S. workforce. It’s not even representative of Exxon’s workforce.

Most of the posters here are people with “charming personalities” who were near or past retirement age, and were constructively terminated (PIP’d) because they were coasting and/or arguing with everybody, and their bosses got tired of their BS.

The vast majority of Americans are very tolerant and have no problem working with anyone - as long as you do your job and don’t create more work for others.

The information hoarding, lack of inclusivity, and micro aggression behavior is rampant. Doesn’t matter what country you are from. It’s all about in-groups and cronyism.

Go ahead. Just try to blame the US employees for BTC poor performance . You will learn what excuses get you in this company.
