Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Don't Trust Les no More

It's obvious based on his town hall performance that he's looking to get out of the US and send everything overseas. Time for all the US based IT people to leave. Don't stay to train your replacement.

"WE DEMAND YOU COME TO THE OFFICE - YOU MUST BE IN OFFICE FOR US TO SURVIVE!"

6 months later

"WE ARE FIRING YOU AND REPLACING YOU WITH UNSKILLED REMOTE WORKERS BASED OFF AN ILLEGAL SKILL SURVEY"

The chapters should be removed completely.

They have a FEW good people - but largely sub-10 year workers who got promoted by being good at BS-ing and PMPs... and they know nothing but how to do team lunches & wasting peoples' time. They just keep inventing BS ideas and letting lazy people get away with mu---r.

They have created a culture of waste, and people get away with doing very little. Most are too proud to admit or realize they don't know the software their workers use.

Les and Bill are probably going to use that stupid skill survey we took, where managers rated us even though most of the supervisors don't know the technology they manage.

I imagine the skill survey law suits & HR issues from these layoffs will vastly out weigh the short gains.

That badder leadership workshop is such a waste of money. Took it this year and can’t help but think that it is not what shareholders want. So much waste all around IT.

Sadly triple crown and osdu are hitting D2D territory with a lot of spending with zero or negative value. Been in tech computing a long time before, and even the subsurface experts in the center are starting to see the BU’s perspective. We all tried. It’s not for lack of trying. Forcing KC’s vision took us several years back.

All these townhalls are just eyewash, attempting to get everyone off on the wrong track. Nothing they say will have an impact on the current situation. These are only opportunities for middle management to audition to senior management for higher up positions. There are no solutions or paths given to tackle any current problem. If you aren't a HiPot, my strong suggestion is to get yourself prepared. Layoffs in one form or another is the first and easiest solution for any corporation to make to save costs. Your PMP, black belt, scrum master, how well you used Agile or whatever isn't going to save you. Only you can do that by getting ready. Good luck to all.

I do think Les could probably get you a stellar deal on a magnificent 1995 Toyota Corrola at his car sales lot. Maybe even a Pinto he has stashed away! He is for sure going to be selling IT a bill of goods!

Tuesdays townhall was better. KB was there and RS did talk through more items. KB addressed business acumen which is really the thing that needs to come back. They shortened the thursday version quite a bit because on Tuesday there was no time for questions with the pre-recorded thank you's taking so long. That shouldnt have been in the town hall at all....

Totally funny comment on the PSCM guy. So true... no idea what he said or why he leads a function. Now I know why we can never get through procurement in a timely manner.

Also funny about AG... ask her a question and she jumps down your throat. CHAPTERS ARE GREAT, WE ALREADY ADJUSTED COST CENTERS. I still dont know who the heck works on what and why all the SCH are traveling all over all the time. I hope the culture survey reflects how dysfunctional this model is. If you arent working on delivery of a product or capability then you should be moved to a role that does.

Fr-agile. Yup. Heard they are cutting scrum masters.... one of the few roles closest to the work. How about RTE's... STE's? I would trade one good SM for 5 RTE's.

Lets be real. MN wants an ax man. Les will be that guy. He has no pre existing relationships to hold him back. MN will hit his budget targets and then brag about it.

Les has really out of touch leaders around him. He says all these great things about data because that’s all he knows. Look at his background. He doesn’t know our platform/functions or BUs, and I am sure we have salty FLT GMs who wanted his job and now have to work for new guy who doesn’t know Chevron. There were hardly any GMs at his town hall. AG was in Aberdeen!! What on earth for? RS had to read all these so called accomplishments that he doesn’t know details for. Where was TK and KB? And we got a drilling guy doing OE moment on 564? He probably had never heard of it until he was asked to present the topic!

Thank god EN got pushed out because I don’t know what she was selling with the data is i our DNA stuff when our data chapter head is hanging out in Pennsylvania for over 2 years working - maybe - remotely while we are firing people for not coming to office. Data is not in his DNA but waste of money is.. Our software leadership is so dysfunctional, can’t work together because boss is also busy touring the world training up more badder leaders. Times to drain this swamp. There’s already enough threads on Fr-agile so no need to waste words or time talking about CS.

People worry about AI taking jobs away from the rank n file. But the real opportunity is use AI to replace the robot with no intelligence that is the FLT. The top 10% of this company will take that package when announced later this year. No reason to follow these so-called leaders. The positive side is that at least BB has a pulse. Whoever he brought to give him farewell from supply chain - oh my - this guy can probably lose a debate with Brandon. Bad town hall overall, expect less from Les going forward. Hope you saved up for a rainy day.
