Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Our Fate is now in VZ hands

2 weeks for VZ to decide should they stay or should they go. Some people got verbal they were going, my Mgr still says she doesn’t know anything. Hmmmmm

Don’t worry they’ll keep just enough to satisfy the minimum requirements.

@wuy+1tKECPkY this

Business leader = SVP or above
I guarantee they've been doing "draft" planning ever since the window for opt in opened.

Our largest customer is the government, and they won’t do business with us if everyone is off shore

****When you say business leader decides is that your VP or Sr Director or Director?

Once the process has started it is unstoppable. There is not a start/stop component. The rest of our careers if we continue to stay will be filled with uncertainty. Layoffs, RIF’s, furloughs, outsourcing, offshoring will be our constant companions. Senior management will be in the same position, so they’ll spend their time covering their behinds. We are soon to be on our own. This whole thing is a finely staged play right out of the corporate playbook. Nothing is left to chance. They’ll slowly gut the company, while trying not to lose the hearts and minds of the employees, until we’re no longer needed, maybe you’ll be the one to turn the lights out. That’s how it works.

HR will **accept ** anyone who press the VSP button and set departure date to be Sept
It is up to your Business Leader to overrule (deny) or change departure date (Dec /Mar)

It's not HR that decides, it's your leadership that will decide if to accept/deny, then if accept what date (that has to be justified if not Sept). THEN HR will step in to create your severance package to legal for final sign off.

I'm going to bet HR will be done with "their" piece before the 14th. They have to get all of the contracts ready to go for the people who DID click, and if they're expecting most to be released in September, HR is going to have a LOT to do before then. Course we won't "officially" know squat until the 14th. Good luck everyone!

You can click all you want, they can deny you.

I think OP is referring to the fact that Verizon now gets to chose who to grant the package too out of those that opted in. I’m curious, those who have received verbal confirmation, who are they getting this from? It seems odd that managers would already know since HR has only had one day (assuming they worked Sunday) to start making decisions.

Really? In their hands? That is why I clicked it, so my fate is in my hands.
