Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Offshoring nearshoring layoffs

I've heard people say all IT and other jobs will eventually be in manilla, ba, and india. Just trying to determine if there's still at least some hope of having a job hear in ten years considering they are pumping money into the Houston offices to accommodate more people in person.

Chevron does this every 5-7 years. Offshore as much as possible, then realize 3-4 years in that the quality is terrible, the cost has gone up, there’s no effective oversight and we’ve lost all institutional knowledge, so they scramble to bring work back in house until the next generation of IT leaders come up and can’t resist the siren call of LTI and the like promising lower costs if they just offshore again…

IT and SCM positions are already being outsourced to BA, and at least one other location…that’s simple facts.

Chevron has never been a fan of this except for accounting.

Don’t let the upgrading of the Houston office be your guide. They totally remodeled the entire Lafayette office right before they sold it.

What can citizens do to stop companies from offshoring or to make it harder or more expensive? Is that impossible with Republicans? Or with democrats?

No. They are moving all jobs to Houston. Thank your CEO Mike W. for destroying Chevron's work culture.
