The job market might be bad right now, but it won't stay that way for good. And one thing is for sure, if you have outdated skills, no matter how good the job market is you won't be able to find a job. I've seen too many people find themselves in a bad situation when they needed to find a job as soon as possible because they became complacent here. Don't repeat their mistakes.

Many of us are working two tech jobs and banking one paycheck so you are in great shape when Cisco lets you go
Too many people at Cisco have mastered the art of appearing indispensable when they actually perform almost zero and add nothing of value. Never used to be like this when people were highly motivated. A culture of LRs and poor morale have destroyed the company since CR became CEO. The company has been lost since about 2012.
And do not work hard, do not go out of your way for Cisco. Work enough to get by and spend your time to get a certification and look for a job. Do not be loyal to Cisco as Cisco is not loyal to you. Always remember that Cisco has laid off so many skilled and talented employees who made significant contributions to Cisco and management took credit and got themselves promoted.
Cisco doesn’t guarantee your future, you do it yourself. Always be on lookout to add your skills and Certifications. You do yourself a favor!!
Good advice, but you cannot upskill against AGEISM ...
