Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

RTO credible or rumor?

I hope they make RTO mandatory that alone will be out a lot of people who want to work from home.

Given RTO 2-3 days in the office is a miserable failure since no one is abiding by that guidance... yeah, everyone will have to return to work, and they'll prob spend another $100M+ re-converting all the open seating floor plans back to compressed cubicles.

WFH isn't the problem. People who don't do any work from home don't have any significant work to do. This won't change having them return to the office. Intel never fixes the real problem. This is where AI tools in HR will help out. Think of the Office Space scene with the 2 Bobs interviewing people for their own jobs: "So what is it that you really do here?" If people don't have a real answer that shouldn't have a real job.

Credible and will results in small single digit resignations from people who have moved out of state and are unwilling to come back for what is in store for them. It is just not worth it. I personally know several such folks. They are not going to come back.

Then there are VP level folks who live all over the place. I personally know two of those as well. They might come back. To much skin in the game. Not sure and not sure if the same rules will apply to them.

Seems credible. Will absolutely crush the spirits of many lazy employees, but will also dampen the spirits of those who do work hard remotely.
