Thrilled to hear they are laying off all the fat in SE middle management. Span and control has been awful. Sure it’s a step towards pooling, but that’s not happening yet.

Being SE is easy. Just say AI, DevOps and Architecture a ton times to customer with a few nonsense PPTs and customers certain to buy a ton of stuff. That’s the strategy moving forward right from the ELT cos I ain’t heard of any other meaningful strategy. Gary needs to get this company to cut through the BS and get back to basics and excel at them.
LRs will be brutal in JD’s org.
Where did you hear that?
Too many management layers has been created by promoting incompetent employees to leaders and promoting incompetent managers to directors. The new management layers have no skills and no real work to do. All they do is to create PPT's, playing politics and harassing their subordinates.
No Director can be a Director outside of Cisco. Has anyone seen some of the Directors, senior mgrs and first line managers in SBG ? Just a bunch of ....
Manager and Directors are useless in Cisco, exploiting Cisco's money by no work or deliverables. Some groups with Directors having couple individual Directors reporting. What kind of work or deliverables are they providing ?
Strong technical skills, experience with customers and certifications have zero value inside Cisco. Even if CCIE no one cares. Your ability to create PPT and self promote on the latest buzzwords is what matters. This is the problem.
The need to extend this to Cisco middle management
No coaching
No back up on partner meetings or thought leadership in customers
No technical background
Just a weekly Shakedown
Explain what they do that an SFDC report can't
Cisco managers do nothing!
If all were let go in 2 weeks there would be zero impact on anything.
They make bank tellers look like Olympic athletes!
The number in conversations is north of 5K across all orgs. Good luck everyone.
If that was your take-away from the Check-in you’re deluded.
They are finally laying off management and using the savings to hire more SEs.
