But the free fruit coffee etc is insulting. It’s like those memes about management throwing a pizza party.
I used to see fellas who were on 200k a year get more than 1 piece of free fruit from the canteen. Now that takes a certain mind. They come from a different place, these people.

But seriously..."tell me you don't understand value without telling me". Fruit and drinks probably cost nothing in the scale of things but had a big benefit to morale. Pat could probably fund that out of his checking account. Same with recognition. It was a few million dollars a year but made you feel good about going out of your way to help someone you're not obligated to help.
If there's no more free coffee, night shift is done. RIP.
