Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

15k target and 15k eligible for retirement. Is there a silent message?

It was mentioned in ACM that 15k employees are eligible for early retirement. And the headcount reduction target is 15k. Is that a silent message that they want all older employees to get out? Will they be targeted in the involuntary phase if they don’t take the retirement package? What’s going on? What is ELT & HR up to?

Youngsters these days take 5-10x more time to do the same task when compared to an experienced employee. Part of it is due to experience and part of it is due to attitude.

If all those 15k employees retire, it will be way worse for Intel than ACT.

Have you seen the younger crowd? They run into walls because their eyes are glued to their phone. Don't walk behind one because you're shift will end before you reach your destination. They're always late, they leave early, they can't comprehend basic instruction and they're full of bs excuses. And yes, they take far longer to complete normal tasks than everybody else.

Not all oldies are bad but majority of them treat this like a government job.

  • And fhey talk too much. Less talking and more doing. Time for them to retire and travel and boost the economy.

The FAQ says anyone who qualifies for enhanced retirement is guaranteed to get it.
If you have a BU staffed with only retirement employees Intel could effectively be letting whole groups go.

The amount of things my manager does not know is astounding. She's been here for 20+ years and I joined 10 months ago. She's probably 15 years older and clueless as every paper pushing manager I've seen

That is BULLSH*T. I waste so much time every week helping decrepit boomers with basic tasks. They need to be retired.

Another class action brewing? Isn’t this one of the major faux pas of BK?

If you are retirement eligible why would you not take the severance? I can't imagine all 15K taking it but a sizable number will. Or else they will definitely be targeted for ISP in October.

This happened almost exactly in 2016. Today we see the absolute destruction of Intel as a result. Imagine if other organizations did the same thing...Doctors, Journeymen-women/ etc, Pat should be the VERY first to go. He has lost his mojo...he belongs on a used car lot....

Silent? HAHAHAHA!
Everyone in the office I talked to took it the same way - you are going one way or another.

This is the complete opposite of my experience. Older, enfranchised employees are the ones spending most of their day chatting in the cafeteria, attending meetings, and maybe doing an hour of real work.
