Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

How will the layoffs be conducted?

How will the layoffs be conducted? Will it follow the approach of targeting specific individuals as was done in 2016, or will each business unit be allocated a budget and have the authority to determine which employees will be affected?

Our managers already have their lists made. They will play coy but they already know.

Unfortunately, the lists are already ready. The voluntary separation packages are all a charade to protect from lawsuits. Start applying now.

Targeting specific individuals is exactly what should have been done all along but it hasn't so far. I doubt that will change.

The methods used for this huge employee reduction will likely leave Intel in a state that will lead to even further decline. Too much talent and experience will leave on their own.

Re : If you were in Intel you would.knkw how CPM works
I was fortunate enough to take VSP in 2016.
However, I believe that the number of layoffs being announced this time will not be as "successful" as in 2016. This could potentially disrupt the functioning of entire teams, of course, if anyone is concerned about it.

I’d say:

  • Each department has a cost reduction target
  • First preference to Retirement eligible applicants
  • Then each department will decide on other voluntary applicants. Acceptances will be based on how far the department is from their cost reduction targets and also skills needs (overheads will be the focus)
  • Departments which are still short of their targets will do involuntary separation.
