Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Any thoughts on how many will accept VSP?

I'm assuming the more accept, the fewer involuntary layoffs there'll be. I'm low-key hoping enough folks are unhappy here and are looking for a way out to minimize the need for laying off the rest of us. That would be a win/win situation, at least in my book.

If they continue to keep the ISP package basically the same as the VSP there is no reason anyone would take the VSP.

The most basic strategy would be offer the VSP and clearly state the ISP will be 8 weeks redeployment. Then people who believe they are not performing will leave.

The economy is starting to show signs of weakness so the job market will only get tighter. We are also heading into the end of the year were hiring usually slows especially in Q4. I think that a lot of people will roll the dice and see if they can survive ISP rather than risk going into the abyss of the current job market. There will probably be more cuts in 2025 but the job market may be better by then. People can also be looking for jobs while they are still employed. The severance packages, with the exception of the early retirement, aren't that great so it would be better to stick around right now and maybe leave in early 2025 with a new job instead of taking a package. Short answer, not to many will take VSP.
