Don't waste time! Brush up your resume, network, and job search full time!!

It's grim out there, especially in the tech industry and if you're 50+ in age. Good luck!

You need to clarify. It is true most semiconductor companies won’t hire us or avoid doing so. Other industries will. It may be like starting from scratch but other industries will hire us up. Good luck everyone.

It doesn’t matter. Most companies won’t hire former people from Intel. Now flood the market with thousands of them all vying for the same 4-5 job postings. We are all in big big trouble. But thanks Pat for the spiritual guidance!

Yes and get cracking ASAP. Most other places do not like hiring former employees of Intel.

50+, not a concern. There is plenty of work out here. I am around engineers who are 70+ and I am no kid myself.

Apply now. Also I think the layoffs will be followed by freezing promotions and cutting salaries like the last time. The market is tough but just apply and network as much as you can. Intel is 2-4 years away from any turnaround- till than we are stuck with minimum benefits

Fully agree - You need to find something NOW before no jobs will be open for someone with your skillset before end of year. AMD, Qualcomm, and NVIDIA are chewing up Intel from all sides.

From Investopedia today 8/5, sounds ominous -
"Goldman Sachs analysts questioned whether Intel's cost-cutting plan will be enough to drive a recovery. Analysts at Baird said "formidable hurdles remain," anticipating Intel's cost challenges will carry into next year."
