I know we're here to typically sh*t on the company, but I do feel that garden leave (separation day is X, but you won't be asked to work until that date) is one of the proper steps in doing a layoff.

Previously they would notify people they're being laid off, but ask them to create x/y/z before they go.

I’ve seen some that were immediate, some with end dates of employment 8/23, some 8/30… seems to vary by dept/position and may be how they are getting away without having to file a WARN Act notice. Leadership denies it but there are rolling layoffs at Centene all the time, I’ve watched it happen over and over for the past 15 yrs. And to be fair, it isn’t just Centene that does them, all managed care organizations do them.

So basically everyone affected is no longer working that were informed this month. Sorry to hear that for everyone affected or in fear of being affected. I saw some say they were offered other positions. Doesn’t seem consistent so maybe it vary by corp, plan and department.

I was told that morning (8/1) that it was my last day to physically work but separation date 8/30.

someone in my unit very high up was let go, with no preparation for replacement. They were told in the morning of the same day

It seems like there were enough layoffs to trigger the warn act where they’d need to give us 60 days. It only requires 500 layoffs across the enterprise and given Centene’s size. My department had about 10 but we are small
