Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

I don't get those who refuse VSP

Do you honestly see a future so bright for Intel that you want to stay for it? Do people really think Intel is going to recover after everything and be a great place to work once again? Seriously, please tell me what's there to stay for? I can't think of a single thing.

Those who think ISP will be “identical” are in for a very rude awakening

Quote from Officer and Gentleman "I got nowhere else to go!" So you just milk it as long as you can given that ISP is almost the same why not.

I’m applying for other positions like crazy looking for a lifeline. If I snag one soon, which isn’t a guarantee, I’ll put in for VSP and bail. Until then, I’m planning to stick around until they kick me out. No need to rush things

But ISP is not guaranteed. Yes the put it out in their information dumps but that is not a promise.

Hypothetically, Intel employed - say you're a 45 year old white with a 2 year tech degree making $85K. If you can find another job, it'll start you at a little over 1/2 that. Not Cali obviously... If you can't afford to retire, what would you do?

Is OP an Intel employee? If yes, is OP taking VSP now? Why cares about others choices?

I’m staying because the ISV package is the same. Might as well make them push me out

I don't see a way to secure a job in 2 weeks. Otherwise j would take VSP. Looking at intels past 14yrs of performance, I have no hope for Intel, this company is just too big and too complicated to manage as a single org.

Too many Extremely content people, rich people who made money in early 2000 stock splits - don't care much about company as much as their cash outs. I have personally heard elevator talks like "milk the cow when it's possible"

Fear of a tough job market is part of it, especially if you’re older
