Thread regarding L3Harris Technologies layoffs

Cant find job after getting laid off.

Really su-ks especially in this market. Engineers have it really hard. Haven’t gotten a single call back or interview.

Don’t even know why I got laid off. I did my work, worked in office sitting in two hour traffic round trip, would go to lunch all the time with coworkers.

Like , what more could I have done? Instead of taking 140 hours of PTO take 60? I dunno.

You need to build your resume in such a way that it targets the job you are applying for. You have put down the different skills, tools, experience, etc for AI software to detect those key words so it can get passed down to a human. Also, you need to create several different resumes to the different jobs you are applying to. One common resume for all jobs you apply just won't do it these days. And then when you do get an interview, it may be with an AI robot remotely. Do some youtube searches for how to generate a resume in this world of AI and how to interview with an AI robot. Also, if you've over 50 or even 40, AI will do an internet search on your name and background to find out your age, and then filter you out. So, make sure your resume is beefed up in order for the skill set you have gets a higher percentage points then the negative age factor. Getting through AI software filters is tough for those over 40. Also, don't get lazy, and don't get depressed. Keep looking and applying everyday. Connect with as many people as you can via LinkedIn. It's going to take some time, even over six months perhaps, but keep looking. Don't give up. And if you need support, post on this site. We will all support you to stay positive. Some of us have been through the same thing you are going through right now and know how you feel.

Don't take it personally. For better or for worse, any publicly traded company's number one financial objective is to generate revenue for the shareholder, is not about the technology in this case for L3.

Even non-profit needs money to run operations, nothing is free. Healthcare even struggles, and one of the most burn, where they allocate a 10-15 minutes policy per patient and are required to charge as most codes to extend the bill to insurance.

Now, executives at these firms who have mostly experience in investment banking, management consulting, M&A, and other fields do not necessarily have technical domain knowledge but finance backgrounds; thus, one of the most effective ways to reduce cost before releasing 10-Q for the quarter to convey there is extra cash flow on the balances or else try to convey to shareholders they are doing fine, limited on their imagination they tend to follow the old school way of easy and effective (in terms of cost reduction) nothing but to implement reduction in workforce. However, there is always a tradeoff in any action, which in these cases affects the morale and leaves programs with limited human resources to comply with their obligations, thus more work and responsibility for the people that stayed while earning the same compensation. Don't take it personally; you are better off elsewhere that would value you more.

This is not an easy thing to say and even harder to hear but the truth is, the problem is your resume. If a job applicant's last employer was L3Harris Technologies, your application goes on a different pile.
The ghost pile.

It can take some time to find a new job after a layoff. Sometimes folks have to consider relocating or maybe spending the work week in another city, returning home on the weekends. This may be a tough time as layoffs seem to be piling up across the technology sector.

My initial comment was in no way critical of you personally, but your original post and your response clearly demonstrate a mentality of selfish thought. Prison is full of innocent people. From the sound of it, you were clearly underemployed and prospective employers just haven't figured out how amazing you are yet. Call me all the names you want, further demonstration of your mentality. Cheers!

There were high performers let go in our area. It was a mix of seasoned and younger people. One factor was the functionally the people provided to benefit the company. Some of the people that provided support services were let go in our area. Our manager was let go even though he’s one of the smartest people I worked with. I think part of this was due to reorgs and moving people around to save the company money.

I said I did my work. I’ve never once had a bad mid year or end of year review. Always met expectations or better.

You want me to go above and beyond, for what? Getting paid below market average? To su-k up to management?

Your comment was pathetic.

Good luck out there, nothing personal, but every single person thinks they do all the work, are a gift to employers and are head and shoulders above their peers. I would focus on the actual work accomplishments rather than highlighting the fact that you spent time commuting and went to lunch with people a lot, haven't seen many reqs with that skillset.

You are a number and it is a numbers game to the corporate world. I was told one time you can't take it personally; it is hard not to. I was like you I did everything correct and still got let go. I took it as a blessing as things happen for reasons. One door closed and another better door opened. Good luck!
